It is an interactive place to post and read news, articles, and archive material focusing primarily on the World of Greyhawk Fantasy Setting. | | · What does Canonfire! mean? Canonfire! is a term coined by Erik Mona (Iquander). Its a pun on so many levels, but think of it as taking pre-existing canon (all the books and adventures ever created for Greyhawk) and setting it on creative fire. Let a thousand Greyhawks bloom. This site was built by GH DMs, for GH DMs and we hope to be a great resource for them.

| | · Why should I create an account instead of remaining Anonymous? Having an account on Canonfire! allows you to customize your experience on the site. You are also able to post comments under your name as well as submit articles under it. An account allows you to customize the the look and feel of the site, by choosing a theme and controlling how many stories you want to appear on the Frontpage. Sign up and give it a try! | | · Are there any rules for what can be posted in the comments on articles? We are not going to explicitly spell out a set of rules at this time, but, if you have a foul mouth, like to insult others for no reason, and generally add nothing productive to the site, expect yourself to be censored. | | · How do I contribute an article or review to Canonfire! Either send your article to submissions@canonfire.com or go to the Submit New Article page (this is the preferred method) and fill out the form. Make sure you are logged in before using the webform so that the article is properly attributed to you.
After submitting an article, it may take a few days to show up on the Frontpage, depending upon when you submitted it, and as the Editorial Board looks it over and checks for formatting problems.
Currently, if you article includes attachments, such as maps or binary files, you must email it as an attachment to submissions@canonfire.com instead of using the webform. [ Back to Top ]
| | · Is there any kind of material you will not accept submissions of? Yes, there is. First, you must own any article you submit. We will not accept material copyrighted to someone else, including electronic versions of WotC products. Obscenities or warez would not keep us in the good graces of the company hosting Canonfire! Finally, it has to be germaine. This site is about 'Hawk. If it's a generic rules article or an article on another gaming world, it probabily won't be accepted (although exceptions may be made on this last part, such as a conversion guide meant to accompany other articles submitted). | | · Who owns submissions to Canonfire! and/or articles that appear on the site? All authors retain ownership of their articles. Canonfire! does not even request exclusivity, i.e. that authors publish only to Canonfire! (although we certainly will not complain if they do). We are happy to provide links back to referring sites as well as author's own homepages.

| | · Can I repost articles that I see on the site elsewhere? No. Only the original author of an article has that right. No one else has the right to repost articles on this site anywhere, including to Canonfire or to the GreyTalk Discord channel. So, if you don't own it, don't post it.

| | · What is the Editorial Board? The Editorial Board of Canonfire! is a small group of Greyhawk DMs who are responsible for approving/formatting the articles and reviews to the site. They are the dedicated individuals who make the site work without too many flaws (hopefully), and try to get those flaws that do emerge, fixed quickly.
Despite the name, they are not editors in the conventional sense--they only edit articles primarily for formatting (ie: make sure tables show up properly, title and author's name are easy to locate, etc.). They are not responsible for bad grammar, atrocious spelling, inconsistancies in an article, or outright blatant violations of canon. Hell, they can't even guarantee they'll keep those things out of their own works! But they will try. [ Back to Top ]
| | · How do I get on the Editorial Board? Currently, there is no formal process to join the Editorial Board. Good contributions, a helpful attitude, and taking part in the community in one way or another (ie: through GreyTalk or the weekly chats) are a good start. Having lots of free time is also considered a plus, as is dependability and willingness to do gruntwork (like, say, writing answers to lots of FAQ questions when you could be doing something more entertaining). In short, make yourself invaluable to the Editorial Board members.
One thing to remember...playing political games, which often seem to plague various projects, is a very good way to make sure you will never become a member of the Editorial Board. [ Back to Top ]

| | · Does my article have to conform to some kind of official canon or the Living Greyhawk Campaign? Certainly not! Canonfire! wants a mutiplicity of views (even on the same subject!)
We want your Greyhawk articles, regardless of how closely they follow the published canon of the World of Greyhawk Fantasy Setting. From the original Folio to the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer and everywhere in between. We want it all!
We are also agnostic to rules/mechanics....1st edition, 2nd editions, 3rd edition....old D&D, new D&D...not D&D! We'll take it. [ Back to Top ]
| | · Are there rules for posting on the Canonfire! Forums? Yes there are rules on the Canonfire! Forums. The forums have grown over the last few years and we would like to thank everyone for taking time to be a part of the growing CF! community!
To help maintain the friendly and open spirit of these forums, here are a few rules to follow.
Rules for Safe and Happy Posting
When posting on Canonfire! please keep to
Greyhawk (exceptions are the Backalley) and follow the rules of the
forum category you plan to post in.
Please refrain from posting meaningless or one word threads, linking to
off topic sites and spamming. Note that spammers will be dealt with
harshly.
Do not discuss filehsaring, filesharing programs, or illegal downloads
on the forums, nor post images or content that is the property of
others. Posting excerpts of the IP of others for reference purposes
only (for example, a small image or quoted portion of text) is
acceptable, though we reserve the right to edit anything that we deem to
have overstepped the bounds of what is intended to be allowed for.
Violators will be warned and the post edited. Further violations will
result in possible loss of posting privileges and/or banning the user
from the forum.
Canonfire wants to be useful to all its members so please do not use
profanity, graphic descriptions of sex or violence and inflammatory
remarks towards real world cultures, race and religions in your posts.
Personal attacks, direct insults and harassment towards members will be
edited or the entire thread entirely deleted, pending further action by
the Canonfire! staff. Treat each other with respect and remember you are
dealing with real people at the other end.
When posting a thread or a response please consider the length of your
post and put LONG if you go over three paragraphs or CONTENT WARNING on
your headers when you have questionable content in your posts.Also, when
revealing information from privileged sources, such as modules consider
adding SPOILER to the header.
While Canonfire! encourages healthy debate and discussion on Greyhawk
related topics remember that Greyhawk has been around a long time, and
many people hold strong opinions about the setting. There will no doubt
be times when a discussion may turn into a disagreement, this is fine
and is too be expected. However, if it turns into flamewar we may edit
or remove the thread entirely.
Please *avoid* edition wars or making comments based on a particular
style of play as these tend to invoke flamewars and don't really promote
the spirit of Greyhawk in general.
Canonfire! staff reserves the right to remove any posts without notice. Canonfire! also reserves the right to ban anyone who willfully violates these rules.[ Back to Top ]
