What's Zagyg been up to lately?

A follow up to my post inquiring about the Ring of Five. Is Zagyg off traveling the planes once again, or is he hatching up some new madness in the bowels of Castle Greyhawk? I have my own, rather detailed answer, but I'd like to know the official response, should there be one. I should note that my campaign is set in 582 CY, but I don't think that would affect the answers forthcoming...

I can't think of any canon instances of direct Zagyg interventions in the Flanaess offhand, after his involvement with WG6 Isle of the Ape. Anyone?

There is a mention of Zagyg's 'Ship of Fools' in one of the 2E era GH books (I have nothing handy to reference). It might be From the Ashes. IIRC Zagyg tests people by way of this ship/place. I'm foggy on the details, it might be my imagination.

Based on that, it looks like Dragon # 299 or LGJ#5 are the most recent mentions of him, though not necessarily the most recent activities he's been involved with, I suppose....

Excellent work, thanks fellas. Does anyone have Dragon # 299 or LGJ#5, and if so can they share the content of these pieces?

I checked out the FtA reference, it seems to be something rather arbitrary that the Mad Wizard set in motion some time ago, doesn't really point to recent activity (unless of course the arch-fool is actually Zagig himself, but that seems like a stretch).

I'm not insisting that he has to be active in the Flanaess right now, I just want to know he's up to something, somewhere...

I think the implication that the Archfool in the Ship of Fools might be Zagyg. After all, that Zagyg - he crazy! :D

That's what I was afraid of, Woe. Seriously, does anybody think Zagyg wouldn't tire of that after about two days, and turn the gig over to one of his henchmen/students? At most, he does part-time duty, when he's bored. No, he's got something else going on...
