Oerth Journal to recieve new Maure Castle material

Following the recent announcement of the end of published versions of Dungeon and Dragon magazines respectively, Rob J. Kuntz has chosen to publish his remaining Maure Castle material live on his webpage and to the Oerth Journal.

Currently, the Oerth Journal staff is in talks with RJK about new and cut material from his Maure Castle works as well as the right to publish the new adventure, "Warlock's Walk" (which will be run at GenCon in 1st-edition format) into 3.5e D&D format.

For more on this check, Maure Castle forums on Pied-Piper-Publishing and we’ll keep yopu updated on future developments!

Excellent news! (I suggest mentioning it at ENWorld, if you haven't already. And again when it actually happens.)

    !

That's super, but what about the 1st edition version then? That would be more useful to people like me, who run 1st or 2nd edition games.

From what I understand things will have to be converted to 3.5e in the first place. It looks like the adventure(and likely any other material) will be supplied in 1e format, so we'll have to see about offering that as a separete file. As the 1e adventure Warlock's Walk will be a special feature at GENCON this year, I wouldn't expect its appearance there to be prempted by an appearance in the Oerth Journal(which means we really have a good amount of time to do some extra special things for it Cool ).

All right! I loved the Maure Castle adventures! They were so......evil.

I mean, Eli Tomorast? The guy had demonic hands! You just don't get evil quite like Maure brand evil. :)

Dragonsfoot.org has been doing things in 1e format for years. I don't see why it wouldn't bee impossible. I'd love to see more of the classic format here anyway.

Well, that was the point of me beating a few folks over the head to open a 1e forum, and a 2e forum for that matter. Wink Even though I no longer play using either the 1e or 2e systems, I know that there are still lots of folks who do.

We'll have to wait and see if we have permission to post the 1e version of things. If we are able to then I am sure we will, either through Oerth Journal, Canonfire!, or elsewhere. We'll have to wait until Duicarthan can tell us more on how things progress with RJK.

DavidBedlam> I agree with you about Eli and Maure. It is its own unique brand of evil. I made MFA a bit more nasty when I ran it, killing off two pc's in the process who made the very bad decision of taking on Eli in a straight up fight on his terms. Lots of fun. A Loremaster pc in my campaign has the Tome of the Black Heart and is intent on making a Daggar Obelisk in the near future, so I hope that we see something on the Lost City of the Elders from Rob. That would be too dang cool. Cool

Which I like. I actually meant I would like to see more classic formats in the OJ as well.

Anyone can do Chaotic Evil. The trick is to do it with style. Not many people can do that. Eli can do that. ( Xykon is another) Villians can really make a game. Get them right, and the players will stick around just to smite them. Smile

Excellent article by Rob! These will go a long way in revitalizing my Maure campaign someday. (Cowardly players are afraid of Eli. Afraid I tell you!)

Both Editions are Clear for Take Off

Actually to stem all the gossip heres the official news, all articles RJK sends to us will be presented in both 1st AND 3.5e editions!
As I am the one doing the conversions to 3.5 from basic 3e and 1e material RJK sends us, I have no problem and would consider it offensive if I didn't present it in both editions. =)
