Oh, baby, it just has to be Needfest. The others are totally groovy but, come on, the Feast of Fools? A chance to mock those more fortunate than oneself and get away with it is too much for this Hobniz to miss.

The pompous laid bare, the mighty stripped of power, the weak with strength, the unloved.......well, actually they're still unloved but you can't have it all.

And, did I mention how careless folk are with their purses whilst having fun?

    What a hoot!

Gotta be Brewfest. And I quote, " In Elmshire, the week is spent in restful, carefree music, drinking, and dancing. In Hardby it is spent with fistfights, riots, and ensuing hangovers. In Narwell it is celebrated with ale-brewing contests, horse races, beatings, and robbery. In Safeton it is celebrated with nervous violence and nightly orc hunts."

Riots, fistfights, drinking, drunken horse-races, orc hunts? How could there be a better holiday?

Beer and wine (after coffee) are near and dear to my heart. Wink Brewfest, hands down. I might be a follower of The Summoner, but during Brewfewst Lanthorn definitely parties with the followers of Olidammara! Besides, as a high school teacher, I have 150 reasons to 'party.'

    For me, Richfest.

The sacred days of Sotillion - good food, drink, and company. It's the week of the relief of your burdens in high summer. The smell of jasmine and a free meal in the Garden Quarter of Greyhawk near the Temple of Pelor on Giving Day. Laying in the grass, listening to the cicadas sing with both moons full overhead with the one's you love to celebrate the close of Midsummer's Day.

And if you're wanting more action, accompany a party of elves marking their fabled day of creation, Agelong, to go hunt orcs or perhaps get caught up in guarding your favorite guild's entry in a citywide contest to claim the heavily sought after prestigious Medal of Zagyg.

2nd that sentiment (reminds me of seeing a nudist colony on South Padre Island when I was a kid driving alongside the beach...my grandpa surely enjoyed it!) Who said they had to wear anything? Razz

Richfest - two full moons, super lycanthropy day! For its annual role as an adventure hook.

You consider Franklin an "authority?" Tsk! I'll help you, for the Bible speaks of more than just beer. Wink

Isaiah 25:6. For those few who honestly might not know how to read that (they exist and have no reason to be ashamed): The book of Isaiah, chapter 25, verse 6.

Or as an old drunk from my neighborhood use to say. "No need to fear, if you can't f*** or fight, just have another beer". Wink

"Hey, you got any spare change?" "I need a drink." Surprised

Hitherforth, you shall be called Bible Scholar. You know "Poster Formerly Known as Mystic", there are other books out there, too...methinks you are actually a priest of Pholtus in disguise! Shocked Which means... I am NOT actually a homunculus after all! Happy yeah, for me.

@Argon, I will lend you some money. Just beware those dreaded 'beer goggles.' What you think is an elf maiden sitting at the bar might become an annis the very next morning!!! Laughing

...so go back to your pagodas, your masage parlors...

Which place in the Flanaess would be the decadent tourism spot?

Greyhawk seems too easy. Dyvers, too.

I recently bought the Age of Worms article on Alhaster (to get back-datable stuff for 577-578). It seems like a freak show at the palace, but the rest of the town is just rough. Rauxes and Edgefield would probably be the same way.

One night in Rookroost and the tough guys tumble... Razz

Edit: I just looked it up. The song actually came from the musical Chess. I did not know that...

Most decadent tourist spot? My bet would be on the city Erelhei-Cinlu.
