B1-9 In Search of the Unknown?

I have an oppourtunity to pick up the old Megamodule B1-9 In Search of the Unknown and was wondering what folks think of it? I have never been able to actually see it and take a good luck at it so I was wondering if it was a good purchase or not.

Hi, It is worth it, if not for the nastalgic attraction for some, it was a good adventure (overall) and if up-dated with a few tweaks, can be a real good play again. If you can get it, do so.

    Enjoy,

    Ancientgamer.

In search of adventure is a good buy, all of the modules that make it up are "classic", and having them all in 1 place, and tied together is an exceptional deal... the module is set in the world of mystara, but can be easily transplanted to greyhawk with only slight modifications here and there.

(note that Module B1 is "in search of the Unkown" the complied B1-9 is tittled "In Search of Adventure")

B1-9 is filled with a wealth of adventure information. More than half the modules it contains are real gems. I would say that you should pick it up, unless somebody wants to charge you an offensive amount of cash for it. The most you should pay is $40, as most of the individual titles are available from svgames.com for about $4.95 US each. If you have a chance to buy it for much less than that, then go for it!

Definitely! In search for Adventure contains several memorable stories, like Rahasia, The Veiled Society, Palace of the Silver Princess and others. I recommend it :-)

IMO, B-2 Keep on the Borderlands remains the quintessential basic D&D module- how many players have cut their teeth on the Caves of Chaos? Dwellers of the Forbidden City is another gem in that series. All in all, I'd say that In Search of Adventure is an excellent acquisition.

Actually, I'd avoid the compilation in favor of picking up the modules individually---the maps will be bigger, you'll get a complete copy of B1 (as opposed to just the maps), all of B4, all of B5, the keep from B2, etc. For full details see the Acaeum at http://www.acaeum.com/DDIndexes/ModPages/Super.html

    wow

So that would explain the way they managed to fit all those adventures into such a relatively small module.

    small

lol, no its not small. What I meant though was it was relatively small considering there were 9 modules included within it. So even though there is tons of good stuff in it it explains how they were able to fit all of them in one edition without it breaking the several hundred page size.

Didn't B1-9 also include more stuff then was in the indivdual mods?

I have my B1-9 on my Mystara shelf and havn' looked it over in years. There are some very good adventures in there, but Keep on the Borderlands is still a personal fav from the Supermodule.

Keep was always a great one. I think I played that mod 5 or 6 times. The guy who DM'ed for would change it around regularly and drive us crazy. Made for a real fun time though.

    Odd

Oddly, this is one series that I have never played. Other than Keep on the Borderland I have never owned or played any of these modules?!?

I will have to pick them up, if they are good. That would be cool, an all new experiance, 20 years old.

I cannot find the compilation on SVGames; what is the exct title?

Personal favourites are B4 The Lost City, and B6 Horror on the Hill. Over the years I've played 'em all. For sheer nostalgia value I would part with $40, but I agree with Grodog that getting them individually is ideal.
