    Castle Maure

    Quick question.

Dungeon Magazine had a few issues with levels of Castle Maure. Those adventures do not appear to give level numbers for the few levels that were revealed (e.g. "The Greater Halls", etc).

I'm sure that at one time (much closer to 2008) I saw a list, perhaps on Kuntz's own site, that set out the level "depths" (for instance, the "Greater Halls" might be level 6, or 6A, or something similar). But I can't find anything on the net now.

Did I imagine a list of numerical levels?

    Two Lists

Ah! Castle Maure. We played that about four or five years ago and had a blast.

When I read you post, I remembered as the DM I had made a list myself, actually two lists, based on the Dungeon magazine games. Not sure if this helps any, but here is what I had:

    List #1:

1st level – The Great Hall (Dungeon #112)
    2nd level – Tomarast’s Hold (Dungeon #112)
    3rd level – Kerzit’s Fane (Dungeon #112)
    4th level – The Statuary (Dungeon #112)

    List #2:
    2nd level – The Retreat
    3rd level – Old Laboratories
    4th level – Dark Tunnels
    5th level – Old Dungeon
6th level – Chambers of Antiquities (Dungeon #124)
    7th level – The Statuary
8th level – The Greater Halls (Dungeon #139)
9th level – The Family Crypts
    10th level – The Reliquary
11th level – The Outer Sanctum
    12th level – The Treasury
13th level – The Old Caves
    14th level – Elluvia’s Pit
    15th level – Warlock’s Walk
    16th level – The Cells
    17th level – The Furnaces
    18th level – Old Master’s Level

I just ran all these recently, and I'm pretty sure that what you're looking for is in Dungeon 112, the Maure Castle issue, in one of the handouts. The notes of Afelbain (the dungeon's architect) pretty much lay out the names and all the levels.

Many thanks for this info! I knew I had seen it -- just couldn't figure out where. But now I remember the pages in Dungeon, and how hard they were to read.

I guess Level 1 is still a mystery?

Some summary info about the levels appears in the Wikipedia article (which I just had to restore the last version from) @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maure_Castle
