    Amedio

    by Zarathon

The Amedio is primarily a tropical forest (jungle), teeming with life, often dangerous. Long forgotten ancient ruins from one of the several empires that once thrived here provide additional excitement. The primary inhabitants, Olman and Suloese tribes, struggle against many challenges, such as Sea Prince and Scarlet Brotherhood slaver strongholds which dot the coast, or the dangerous yuan-ti that call the jungle home. Besides the vast jungle, there are a couple other notable areas. The dakon tribes (intelligent gorillas) live along the mountainous edges. The southern savannah is home to a little-known human kingdom. Lastly, there’s a colonial establishment in a wide valley, against the Hellfurnaces, which opens into Jeklea bay. If the DM chooses, one of the challenges to adventuring here is the heat. Armor wearing classes are going to be hard pressed to deal with the weather.

    Country Specific Resources:
    Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan, C1
The Shrine of Ilsidahur, Dungeon 10
    All That Glitters (UK6)
    Terror in the Tropics, WGR2
    The Shackled City, Paizo AP
    Savage Tide, Paizo AP

    Adventures in This Region Include:
-Ancient jungle ruins can be profitable and as a DM, pleasing in the dungeon sense.
-Navigating tribal diplomacy can be full of role-play, even siding with yuan-ti or dakon.
-Slavers go from bad to worse. A campaign dedicated to the elimination of slavery could be appealing.
-The human kingdom in the savannah has no detail. It’s an open book for a DM.
-The Cauldron and Sassernine valley is very detailed as part of 2 year-long adventures made by Paizo. Cauldron is mostly self-contained in the region. Altogether, there’s a rich history, with many different factions, striving for various goals.
-Keolish exploration out of Gradsul has been profitable and dangerous for them.

    Adventures in Nearby Areas Include:
-There is a connection to the Sea of Dust and adventures there around the Aten tribal region.
-Slavers take their quarry back to the Sea Princes or the Scarlet Brotherhood.
-The islands of The Mist Kingdom are home to mist dragons.
-Pirates, slavers, merchants, and travelers operate off the coast. A sea-going campaign in the tropics is an easy concept for many, with many islands around that have some detail in various sources.

The Amedio is on the edge of the meaningfully known map, so if you want to make up a lot of stuff, there’s not much written past the Amedio.

    Resources from other campaign settings:

There are a lot of other jungle scenarios in other campaign worlds such as Chult in Forgotten realms or Tehuatl in the Lost Kingdoms. Adventures from there could easily be adapted for use in the Amedio.
