    Where did these monsters appear?

d'oh! don't know why i didn't pop in here in the first place. from my other thread: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=127149

in particular, perhaps you could help me with the verbeeg, verme, and urd, and the other non-greyhawk related creatures?

I will take a look into that later today for you. =)
I should be able to find the basis of their creation and where they might be found in the Flanaess.

IIRC the 1st Edition AD&D Monster Manual 2 had the verbeeg and verme listed and the urd were from the 2nd Edition MM. Both the Verbeeg and Urd feature heavily in WGR1 Greyhawk Ruins.

thanks. :) i knew about the appearances in MM2, but since many of the monsters that appeared in that book had previously been in a module or Dragon issue, i was wondering if these had also.

and as for the urd, i know i'm not the only one who was wondering if they had appeared somewhere before the Monstrous Compendium...

I remember the verbeeg appeared in G.Gygax's Artifact of Evil novel, the second Gord the Rogue book. I think they encountered them in the Suss Forest, but I'm not sure because I can't check it because I lent my copy to a friend.
