Dreadmire Swamp

Spellbinder Games (www.SpellbinderGames.com) the publisher of Dreadmire Swamp (www.dreadmire.com) has announced the sourcebook's impending release. In an interview with the editor of Parish RPG Newsletter, project coordinator Mark Williams indicated that Dreadmire was "in press as we speak" and that it should be "ready to hit shelves in time for Christmas."

The project has been in the works for some time - encountering several false starts and setbacks over a period of five years. But this time, says Williams, "Nothing short of another category 5 hurricane will stop it. The book is already out of our office and on its way to gamers."

Hurricane Katrina set its sites on Spellbinder Books, wiping their store off the face of the earth. Adrienne Johnson, a spokesperson for Apotheosis Publishing, the parent company of Spellbinder, said, "Spellbinder Books was located near Ocean Springs on the Gulf Coast beach at ground zero. There's nothing but a slab there now. If that wasn't bad enough," she added, "our publishing office was in flooded area of New Orleans. And know what happened there."

Williams says Spellbinder Games, the other half of their business, was only a bit slowed by the storm. "We were back on track after a month of misery and misfortune. Since Dreadmire is our first published book in many years, were are glad it will still be shipped on schedule. Thats nothing short of a miracle, and so is the fact that all our employees are safe. Thats what is most important. We've moved them into a new office in a non-flooded area of New Orleans."

When asked about availability, Johnson replied, "Only Bayou Book Distributors is confirmed to market the book. Dreadmire Swamp should be available at book and hobby stores across the USA come this December [2005]. It is expected to be available online at Amazon.com and various RPG sites, as well as at conventions. "We have the author on a book tour of gaming conventions across the country and Spellbinder Games will be selling books at his booth," Williams adds.
