    In the Shadows of Spinecastle

Dungeon Magazine #148 is doing a Greyhawk specific adventure set in the city of Spinecastle! Here's how it's described:

    In the Shadows of Spinecastle
Stephen S. Greer and Gary Holian
The PCs must infiltrate a city ruled by monsters to search for the spymaster that holds the key to saving a besiged nation. A Greyhawk adventure for 9th-level characters.

See the rest of the issue here

There's also Greyhawk-ish stuff with some Abyssal adventuring as part of the Savage Tide Adventure Path.

    Just a heads up. Cool

Say, here is a question: Where is Spinecastle? I can't find it on my map of the Flanness. Question

Shame on you - there are actually two Spinecastles - one is a Castle in the Barony of Kalinstren in Furyondy, the other is the former capital city of the Bone March. The module is clearly aimed at the latter.

    Groovy.

    A-ha! There!

I'm using the map of the Flanaess est 591 from the Greyhawk Player's Guide (two pieces of A4 taped togther!), which only has a handful of cities marked on it.

So you can't completely blame me for not knowing. Wink

    I got the issue!

And it's a pretty good adventure. It manages to create a 'behind enemy lines' feel, and provides enough infomation to base an entire campaign around! The appendix which details the city and the people/things/people eating things inside was also a fine read.

Plus! When I was reading the credits, I saw that the adventure was co-authored by our very own webmaster! Yay Gary!

    Hey David.

It was a pleasure to work on, alas you didn't get to see the whole thing. The backdrop was as big as the adventure. Perhaps we can correct that on CF very soon....

Excelsior! I love a nice piece of fluff. :)

Even in the abridged form, I was still going "That's a good idea for an adventure! There's a dungeon crawl in that too! Ooooh! Trouble betwen the followers of the dark gods, I bet I can spin that into an adventure." and so on.

I think the basic concept of a city where you can find pretty much any evil aligned creature from the Monster Manuals living side by side is one that a creative person can't fail to have fun with. PCs should have a blast too, expecially if they decide to play 'lets you and you fight' with the various factions.
