    The Horrors of 4E

Has anyone else read about what WotC is doing to the Forgotten Realms for 4E? I don't really like the setting that much, but this is horrendous. If this is the way WotC is going to update settings for 4E, I hope they drop Greyhawk forever and let someone else pick it up finally!

    Ed Greenwood

I wonder what Ed Greenwood, the CREATOR of the Forgotten Realms, thinks of all this tampering with his "baby"... I'll bet he's none too happy, to say the least! Shocked Mad Shocked

Regarding EG and the 4E Realms: Despite the seeming randomness in 4E Realm's shakeup it was actually highly calculated both to shoehorn in the new edition and to appease Greenwood I'm sure. I shudder to think what they would have done if EG was not in the picture. Along that same line, Baker is front and center involved so Eberron should glide by 4E without a blemish I wager. Now Greyhawk... Confused

He seemed very excited about the future of the Forgotten Realms at D&DXP last weekend. Mr. Greenwood indicated that he was excited to see the Realms return to the RPGA for larger exposure, and that he supported the direction of the setting as it moves into the top spot of Wizards of the Coast's organized play for 4th Edition. He seems to understand that the setting is a living idea and that it has grown beyond his singular vision and individual preferences.

Maybe he was "toeing the party line" since he was an honored guest at D&DXP. But, when talking to us, Mr. Greenwood seemed sincere in his views of the current direction with his creation as handled by Wizards of the Coast and the RPGA.

Then again, Mr. Greenwood stands to profit substantially...
