Thanks, guys...and to answer your questions...yes, my hand cramps and my back aches all the time from drawing. Par for the course, I guess. Wink And the product is a megadungeon module that I believe is being published for Gen Con this year, created by Pat Wetmore...not sure what the title of it is just yet. When I do, I'll let you know!

Couple more "monster" illustrations for it...

    Glad,

Very talented I like the nostalgic fell of your artwork. A bit of cartoonist with some really deep facial expressions. Glad no pun intended that you shared it with us here.

Best of luck and continued success.

Been a while since I've posted anything but this was an interior piece I did for a client's module. I've got a ton of commission work as of right now, so I'll have some more stuff to post in the near future.

*And thanks for the kind words from my previous post!

I mistakenly clicked on the thread title to check on the thread, and went to page 1. Rather than move straight to the last page, I went through each page one at a time, as this thread really is sort of a retrospective of your work. I invite everyone else to look back at the whole thread too, paying attention to which are the oldest works and which are the newer. In what is really short amount of time, you have vastly improved your line work, shading, rendering of scenery, and your composition- a total improvement.

While your artistic influences are obvious(Holloway), you do have your own style, and I've seen another artist(sculptor Juan Diaz) developmentally go from being somewhat of a mimic of another artist(sculptor Chris Fitzpatrick) to becoming one of the top artists in his field; with an exceptional style all of his own(Juan really is a badarse sculptor now). I think you are well on your way to doing the very same thing. This is just great stuff, and at this rate you could end up becoming one of the iconic illustrators of the RPG industry. Seriously. I look forward to whatever comes next. Cool

Well, now. We have some interesting stuff going on here. I initially assumed that the treants and the trolls were all offended at the fire and about to attack the PCs (those trolls don't appear to be frightened by such a small fire). Then, I caught the upper troll's arm wrapped up in one of the treant's branches as if the treant were protecting the adventurers from the troll's attack.

I like the different beards possessed by each treant and the cloudy eye of the one on the right.

A color piece! Very nice, Glad27. Smile Give that fighter bonus experience points for having the intelligence to slam the door shut on the tentacles to prevent his compatriots from being dragged through it. Smile

I am at GaryCon in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin right now. I saw the adventure that features the artwork you posted in this thread (the 1st level adventure with the albino apes) for sale by one of the exhibitors. It looked very nice. Wink

I missed this somehow, Glad! Thanks for posting.

For those who might not know, that color piece is going to be the cover for "A Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore", which will have a lot of the "new" stuff contained in my Adventures Dark and Deep project (http://www.adventuresdarkanddeep.com). It's intended to be a rules supplement, suitable for use with all your 1E, LL, S&W, OSRIC, etc. games with little or no adaptation needed. New classes like the mountebank, savant, mystic, etc., tons of new spells, an alternate combat system, and a bunch of other stuff as well.

At the risk of publishing a Shameless Plug (apologies if this is a no-no), there's a kickstarter campaign currently under way for the book. We've hit the initial goal (which will pay, in part, for Glad's awesome artwork), and just announced a bonus reward if we hit $3,500. The kickstarter can be found here:

Guessing those yeti-looking beasties are actually taers (from Monster Manual 2), b/c they give off a foul reek (you have one of your warriors falling prey to it, holding his nose). Yes?

That's exactly the sort of creature it is, Lanthorn! I tried to give a few clues without giving up the creature type outright by having it take place in the snow, the Taer having a crude spear (something indicated in the MM II) and what you alluded to...the fighter gagging on the Taer's smell.

    Good job!

They're behind him...out of view, Cebrion. Wink (I knew somebody would mention that. LOL) Maybe there's a wizard just out of sight who levitated the dwarf to his current spot to expedite his short legs having to waist time running up to the Taer?

Glad, you never cease to amaze. Your skill is obviously unlimited, knowing no bounds.

You produce great pieces and I really look forward to seeing more of them.

    Absolutely awesome.

Though I am at a loss to know what that last picture depicts, the guy in chains.

Looks "horrible" enough . . . if that's a "fate," that is. Laughing

Are you drawing on a computer with a special stylus? I'm wondering how you got the black so solid if you are using ink. If you're using ink, are you doing a pencil drawing first and tracing like the comic guys do or separately?

    Thanks again, Mystic-Scholar!

And to answer your question, Raymond, I do everything traditionally with pen and ink. I wouldn't begin to know how to draw digitally. That being said, I do scan my finished pieces in and use Gimp to strengthen the contrast and make the darks darker so as to help eliminate any pen strokes that may show.

    Here's a 14"x 17" commissioned piece I just got done with for a client...

Fun stuff! The old school looking kobolds in a shield wall formation ranks pretty high up there on my all-time list of GLAD favorites. Cool

    Artwork

Those are great, Glad! Want to do some art for an old homebrewed module? My brother and a friend and I wrote it back in the '80s; now I'm going back and reworking it and (substantially) improving it, and plan to submit it to Dragonsfoot (plus give away copies to anyone interested).

Great art! One of the things I love is the facial expressions, everything from surprise, to defiance, to fear (none of the bland "anger" artwork that is so common). I'd make only one suggestion: More! Cool

    Bugbear attack...

    Death Knight and Spectre...

    Roper encounter...

    Cambion and Dretch...

    Evil Myconid...

Glad, I envy your artistic ability. My sketches are crude and rudimentary compared to your drawings. I am far more skilled with the written word instead.

I've seen the OP's art on Dragonsfoot.

It's really nice stuff. I like the action and humor I see in these pieces.

If kobolds were as adorable as those in the shield wall picture, I'm not sure how anyone could fight them!

In all seriousness though, tremendous work all around.

I hope that dwarf has some magical swimming aid. Otherwise, he's fish bait! Razz

    Merline with a Mustache?

The guy in the top right might be wearing Merlin's chrome dome from the movie "Excalibur." Some times in black and white, it's hard to tell if there's a homage going on or not. Cool stuff.

Hello everyone! I'm glad to be here. I love all your art works. I think I'll try to create something so I need your feedback guys. As for me, I'm interested in online games. Besides Dungeons and Dragons, I also like online bingo. That's fun Happy

Hi evelyn. Welcome aboard. I used to go to actual, real-world bingo with an ex. It wasn't really my cup of tea but she liked the bingo & I liked the cheap meals. So it worked for both of us! For a while anyway. ;)
