And another thing! The Greyhawk Community Population spreads

Anybody ever used this? I was toying around with it tonight, but every time I tried to put something in, I would get errors when it came time to spit out the type of people in town... #NAME errors all over the place. Anyone have experience with this beast? It looks like a good idea.

Speaking of Greyhawk growing, are we on Facebook, Myspace or any other Social Networking sites?

Rather than tactfully reply to the OP, I figured I'd let this one work itself out on its own this time.

    Almost there, almost there.

I think the title post cut him off. I think he was trying to say "Greyhawk Population Spreadsheets" I wasn't aware of any in particular (though I've made stuff like this a lot), but it sounds nifty. Anced did something like this for Gran March, though he used Lotus 123, not excel, which based on the error message SUPrUNown is using.

I believe you are correct, but everyone still needs to know which one is being referred to(seeing as there are many) so that replies can be relative.

Yes: there are GH groups on FB in particular.

No arguements from me on that. After all, I wasn't using Dispel Confusion, I was just casting Light on a dark room :) heh

So Sup, which one were you using, and where is it. I'm a sucker for a good spreadsheet.....god I sound like so MUCH of a geek when I say that.

My, who knew that a few days away from the computer would lead to this. 8)

It's an Excel spreadsheet program i dloaded from SOMEWHERE, entitled "The Greyhawk Community Population Generator". It lets you plug in some data, like community name, what state it is in, approx. population, population density and personal wealth levels, then it spits back a community profile, with the number of different "specialist" type like barrsiter, fletcher, etc etc) that would be a town that size. It spits back the results in 2nd and 3rd edition formats. I can find no name or anything associated with it, and searching Google for it is proving relatively fruitless. I *think* I got it off he old Codex Greyhawk site, but I'm not sure. If anyone wants it, PM me, and I'll send you the copy I have, so you can try to figure it out. I'm getting all sorts of errors when I use it, and I'm not sure if it's simply the version of Excel I'm using, or something broken in the spreadsheet, and I have NO ability at manipulating spreadsheets.

Given how finicky Excel is, either your spelling isn't the same as what is in the sheet, or the sheet is flawed in its code (OH so easy to do!), or its thinking it should be getting numbers, and its getting text, or vice versa.

Using a label in a formula, without labels being allowed
Misspelling the name of a function
(Excel tries to interpret your entry as a name even though you intended it to be used as text.)
Enclose text in the formula in double quotation marks. For example, the following formula joins the piece of text "The total amount is " with the value in cell B50:
Omitting a colon (:) in a range reference
Make sure all range references in the formula use a colon (:); for example, SUM(A1:C10).
Referencing another sheet not enclosed in single quotation marks

I'd offer to look at it, but I am cirrently working on a self figuring character sheet for Robotech and Rifts, (in addition to planning two different games for this week - oh yeah and work and unpacking, yay!), so no me helping you out :)

That said if you know visual basic for use in Excel pretty well, PM me please. I need to know how to go about something I can't even begin to put into VB.

Unlikely. IIRC, the Codex predated 3rd edition, and had no 3rd Ed. stuff on it.
