Pholtus and Keoland

A question for the devotees of Keoland.
My current campaign in northern Furyondy seems to be heading to a very sticky end in the clutches of Xenvelen, and I was thinking of setting a new campaign in southern Keoland, and a couple of players were thinking of following Pholtus of the Blinding Light. Now my research of Keoland seems to indicate that clerics of "Follow my god, or prepare to burnt at the the stake" approach might just encounter some resistance from the general populace, not to mention the established faiths and nobility.
So my question is, would a cleric of Pholtus survive at all? And what possible reason might there be for them to be in Keoland in the first place?
And as a supplimental question, a party of seven could be made up of what sort of mix of characters with a suitably Keolandish feel? _________________ The only Good hobbit is a well-done hobbit.
