Online Greyhawk seems to be hotting up!

At least with FB, which kinda focuses things again. There is a bit going with blogs again as well. Since I'm a pre-computer non-tech person who finds Discord difficult to maneuver around while others seem to think it is the bee'd knees as it were there is definitely some noticable activity.

Where else should I be looking? G+ was doing a little and now that its doom has been ordained it seems to have slacked off. Dragonsfoot? Odd74? I'm surprised the CF forum isnt rocking more as the CF FB page is pretty active.

Yeah, lots more action than there was five years ago. Fan community is probably the best it's been since Living Greyhawk and the mid-Nineties before that. Getting hard to keep up with my year in reviews.

The downside is 1) bandwagon insta-collector/flipper scum who think buying retro commodities gives them an identity and status, and 2) Facebook is usurping the old forums, which is great for recruiting new folks, but carries the price of wasting time on social media, ads, privacy invasion, endless splinter groups, no google cache, no web archive, no board divisions or topic categories, and horrible search functionality. Good luck finding something from two week ago, let alone six months.

I think the coolest thing happening these days is lots of brazen GH sequels and spinoffs being published physically and pushing the limits. Fans are getting bold and sassy and Hasbro doesn't seem to care. This is kind of parallel to the reproductions, hacking, and homebrew of vintage video games. It's nice being able to buy sequels to Keep on the Borderlands and translations of old Famicom games in a reproduction cart.

Anyway, my daily/weekly GH stops are Canonfire, Piazza, Dragonsfoot, the GH FB groups (mostly Sages..., GH 576, Canonfire, GP Adventures, and Flanaess Geographical), and Drivethru for new TSR POD's.

Occasionally I check Kuntz's Ruins of Murkhill, EN World, Paizo, Goodman Games, Dragon+, TLG, FGG, BRW, Northwind Adventures, Acaeum, Pacesetter, casl Entertainment, Grodog's page, blogs (yours, Joe Bloch, Casey Brown, Tenkar Tavern, Mort's).

A few times a year I check some of my old bookmarks or go searching and surfing.

    There's also The Piazza @ http://www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/viewforum.php?f=11 and ODD74 @ http://odd74.proboards.com/board/42/gary-gygax-greyhawk and http://odd74.proboards.com/board/74/gaming-rob-kuntz

which I need to update on my links page.

    Allan.

FB is ephemeral. It is good for posting blog updates. But yeah, nothing serious on its own because it just scrolls away like ticker-tape and is quickly lost. I will have to check out Piazza again. I'm not a 3Lbb player so hadnt thought much about odd74 in awhile.
