Dungeons & Dragons: Black & White

Does anyone know if these comics set in Nyrond contain any useful canon tidbits? Are they worth tracking down?

Thanks, rasgon. After this thread hit 100 views with no responses, I just went ahead and bought them. They arrived today. Once I’ve had time to go through them, I’ll post anything useful here.

Yeah... Don’t all rush out to buy this series. I’d hoped for a Nyrond travelogue whence I could glean some place names. All I picked out of the background was “Bugun Pub” in Rel Mord from issue #1 and a couple of Stalwart Pines rangers from issue #2. The art and story were meh as well.

    In the Shadow of Dragons

We were playing a campaign taking place around the Spindrift Isles and the party was aiming to make it to Rel Astra. When I saw that there was a Dungeons & Dragons comic book that is supposed to take place in Rel Astra, I was excited to get them and perhaps incorporate the lore into the campaign or maybe even the adventure itself. I started with In the Shadow of Dragons #1 (2001) and it was subpar. I bought #2 and it was worse. By the time I got to #3, I knew I wasn't going to use anything from it, so I shared the comics with the others and no one liked it. There were five more comics in the series and we could have cared less what happened to the characters. There is really nothing in the comics that adds to Greyhawk lore, nor do we think it should.

Maybe some of the other series of comics in this line were good, but save your money and pass on In the Shadow of Dragons.

Darn it … I wish I'd seen this a little sooner.
I have Black and White, but you're right … In other ones, there's a whole lot more references to places and people.

Black & White: I would have to say this was probably my least favorite of all of the Kenzer and Co. Greyhawk D&D comic series.
In the Shadow of Dragons: Probably my favorite. There's quite a bit more names of towns, people, known NPCs, etc.

      Others included:
Tempest's Gate: Had good illustrations of a couple of known locations.
      Where Shadows Fall

Personally, I thought they were worth having, just because they're set in GH. … but, not everyone would want that. I'm sure the tidbits aren't worth it, unless one is really into finding little details.
