1980s Nostalgia and the D&D Cartoon

For those of you GH fans, who like me, grew up the in the 1980s with D&D and saturday morning cartoons, you might get a kick out of this:

Its a live-action commercial based on some characters you might recognize. I might have to learn Portuguese if they make a 2 hour movie....

As an aside, I recall hearing some episodes of that cartoon had some possible obscure GH references in them. If anyone recalls that, let us know.

    Great Commercial!

I saw that several months ago but enjoyed watching it again.

The Realm of Dungeons & Dragons isn't Greyhawk. The cartoon does show you monsters and characters you'll recognize such as Warduke, Lolth, Kelek, Tiamat, Strongheart, Merlin:

The Realm has too many suns and moons to be placed on Oerth. One guy's take on making it into a campaign setting has an edge to the land so if you fall, you fall into the Abyss.

    https://www.oocities.org/tokyo/flats/1419/dmap.html

The Realm has 4 suns and at least 3 moons.

The 3.5 Edition product called Animated Series Handbook recommends using maps from Frostfell and 3.5 Basic Game. This implies maps from Eberron. The sticker map has a Black Lake and the Eberron map has a Blackwater Lake.

The episode "Requiem" shows that The Realm isn't a planet.

I agree, the setting differs greatly from Greyhawk and isn't Oerth.

But it seems EGG might have borrowed a few of his place names and NPC names from what I understand.

Well, Lolth was in an episode.

I always imagined Zagyg as Dungeon Master.

Oooohh good point. He does kinda look like Zagig, and his approach is often pretty nutty when you think about it.

Ha! I always considered Dungeon Master to be EGG himself. Happy

Dang. Now I'm going to have to rewatch it.

When it aired on TV, the station in my area only carried the first season. Very frustrating for me. Have the boxed set now, and was so happy to finally get the rest of it. It got measurably better in seasoons 2 and 3.
