Erlinar is known to have made enquiries regarding the author of these spells and discovered that Raesene was a follower of Boccob and sometime member of an adventuring group known as the Swords of Mayaheine. Active throughout the Hochoch region between 590 and 591 CY, his fate, and how the book ended up in the Selintan, remains a mystery.

    Raesene’s Olfactory Immunity
    Transmutation
    Level: Sor/Wiz 1
    Components: V, S
    Casting Time: 1 action
    Range: Touch
    Target: Creature touched
    Duration: 10 minutes/level
    Saving Throw: Fortitude negates (harmless)
    Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

This spell was created as a defence against the debilitating effects of the stench given off by angry or frightened troglodytes. This spell temporarily suppresses a warded creatures sense of smell, thus rendering it immune to a troglodyte’s stench. Raesene’s olfactory immunity grants like immunity to any purely smell-based attack form or effect. This spell however does not grant any particular immunity to other gas-based attacks such as that of a green dragon’s breath weapon.

    Raesene’s Efficacious Muting
    Transmutation
    Level: Sor/Wiz 2
    Components: V
    Casting Time: 1 action
    Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level
    Target: One living creature
    Duration: Permanent (D)
    Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
    Spell Resistance: Yes

Individuals subjected to this spell, who fail a Fortitude saving throw, are permanently struck dumb. In addition to the obvious effects, a speechless creature cannot cast any spell requiring verbal components or activate any magical item that requires a command word.

The caster can dismiss this spell effect at will. Dispel magic can also end this spell’s effect.

    Raesene’s Greater Olfactory Immunity
    Transmutation
    Level: Sor/Wiz 3
    Components: V, S
    Casting Time: 1 action
    Range: Touch
    Target: Creature(s) touched
    Duration: 10 minutes/level
    Saving Throw: Fortitude negates (harmless)
    Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

Raesene’s greater olfactory immunity is a more versatile version of the 1st level spell Raesene’s olfactory immunity. The spell grants exactly the same degree of immunity to smell-based attack forms as the similarly named lower level spell with one notable advantage. The immunity gained from the casting of this spell can be divided amongst up to six individuals. The total duration of the spell must be evenly divided amongst all those touched.

    Raesene’s Ameliorated Shield
    Abjuration [Force]
    Level: Sor/Wiz3
    Components: V, S
    Casting Time: 1 action
    Range: Personal
    Target: You
    Duration: 1 minute/level (D)

In much the same way as shield, this spell creates an invisible, mobile disk of force that hovers in front of the caster. Raesene’s ameliorated shield acts in all regards in an identical fashion to the shield spell but confers an additional benefit upon the caster.

The spell protects the caster from any and all gaze attacks, provided that the shield is between the two combatants. The shield allows the caster to meet the gaze of any creature armed with such an attack with impunity.

    Note: Boccob, Selintan"

    Good spells. A few points.
    1) Good work with Raesene’s Efficacious Muting. I don't think I could have resisted calling it Raesene's Distant Dumbing. ;-) You should add a Bard level to it, though.

2)Specify: does the ameliorated shield confer immunity to all gaze attacks, or just those from the 1/2 field of battle the shield currently faces? It certainly seems to be #2, but could be clarified a little more.

    All around, great work.
    Nell.
