    Heheheh. To be honest, I don't really recall. It may be one of the hundred and one details I have made up that have no basis in canon, or I may have been thinking of the Forgotten Realms and its elves when I was doing so. ;)

    In any case, when I go back over a lot of this stuff, I can see what was going through my head when I wrote it, although in others I haven't the foggiest recollection. In the case of Ratik, for example, I was mulling over whether I was stretching the limits of good taste in my desire to make the Flanaess "politically incorrect", as I've stated on other occasions.

    In the case of King Hazendel, if I did have anything going through my mind, I probably came up with it based on the recollections of FR's moon elves.

    If one had to make an in-setting justification for it, it might be a regional quirk-like how people descended from the same ethnic background might have different physical appearances and accents depending on where they live-such as any people of British descent living either in the American South, Atlantic Canada, etc. I see no reason why demihumans can't do the same.
