IIRC, Sacred Banders were homosexual pairs of bonded mercenary warriors from the Thieves World setting anthologies, and more specifically from Janet Morris' contributions.

I think they make an excellent addition to GH lore, given that I've always drawn heavily upon Sanctuary and Lankhmar for Greyhawk City inspiration. Adding them to Hextor seems a good fit, although I don't recall the Sacred Banders in Thieves World being generally evil in bent (although it has been awhile since I read those books).

For more info, see A NOTABLE GUIDE TO THIEVES' WORLD.

No, you haven't missed anything. I have two groups of Sacred Banders in my world. The first is the Sacred Banders of Hextor based in Eastfair. This is the group that will be discussed in the next part. The second is the Band of the Sword. This group was eventually formed by Kelanen followers in opposition to the Sacred Banders of Hextor. I think this group is discussed in part 6.

As Grodog mentioned, Sacred Banders are mentioned in Thieve's World. The actual concept though doesn't come from TW but from the fighting unit known as the Sacred Banders of Thebes in ancient Greece. If you do a search on google you'll probably find several sources on the group.
