They're actually a much smaller segment of the population than I think you're envisioning, except in certain isolated areas, which are kinda rare. Most of the people in the Sud Graufult are what I'd class as Southern Aerdi or Sunnd (both of them Oerid cultural groups, each the result of a different set of mixing, more Flan for the Southern Aerdi and more Suel for the Sunnd).
As to why they're left alone...they aren't, really. In several places, their nobles have been deposed (such as Olvanstaadt-am-Graufult itself), and, as noted in the article on the Harashim, they face persecution from a number of different nobles.
Even most of the Harashim nobles aren't what I'd call Harashim anymore...they may claim to be Harashim, but after centuries of intermarriage with the Aerdi and Sunnd noble families (usually minor houses, don't expect to see one with a claim to the Malachite Throne) to cement political alliances, most are definately of mixed blood. |
