Glad you liked the series.  I would have liked to have included more in the final article, but I wanted to have it done in time for an October posting, and so many areas of the article were shortened or simply left out.

As to witches in general and The Coven, they do ally with druids(if they have a common cause of course) more often than they do with clerics, but that is not saying much.  The exra-planar witches I find well suited to the base witch class, but one type of witch that does not conform so readily to the current format is the Wood Witch(and their HSO variant "The Fey Enchantress")- a witch allied to the Fey powers.  An article on them will be forthcoming.  Wood Witches often ally with servants of the Old Faith, at least as often as the Fey do.

As to witches being presented as an older version of the more modern cleric, you are correct.  One of the main differences between the two organizations is that witches are always channelers of supernatural powers, and the only servants that witches had in the olden days were other low level witches.  The newer religions on the other hand include not only spellcasting clerics, but non-spell casting clergy members, or lay clergy.  The main difference between the old practices of witches and the newer practices of the churches is the inclusion of the lay folk.  As far as witches are concerned, if you are not in touch with the supernatural, you cannot truly understand it, but this mostly due to how witches come to their powers through The Pact.  There is no such neccessary requirement among the newer religions, and so lay clergy allowed to are inducted into the church's ranks.  Witches find this somewhat offensive.

At some point in time I hope to put all of the articles together in a more finished format which will probably come in at around 100 pages and include a more detailed version of the presented information, and a gazzeteer-style entry for The Coven and its base in the Hellfurnaces.
