    Thanks for the compliments!

The levels are pretty tough, especially if you are thinking 3rd edition.

I am of the opinion that giants needed as much a re-vamping as dragons got in 2nd edition. While giants did get a boost of a few HD, I prefer to directly (simplistically?) translate hit dice into levels, at least for leader-types. Giants are creatures of legend. For me, it makes them creatures of skill, not just bulk. Once I interpret them as creatures of skill, I can add all sorts of other traits, culture, personalities, and powers.

On the Gaming Mechanics side, I think it's fair to say these particular firbolgs are also constantly gaining experience, whether it's brute combat with the Bone March humanoids or machinations against Ahlissa, North Kingdom, and the Adri folk.
(This group is still smaller than the Fire Giant warband in Against the Giants, so there :b) They usually operate in small groups, only forming large groups when a warband forms AND is heading their way.

I hope this answers your question. Thanks again for your feed back.

    Peter
p.s. I also realize that I digressed a bit too much about Rachleach and my campaign-specific details. That post will come soon!
