CHRONOLOGY OF THE OLMANS

Chronology (Tostenhca/Skrellingrad)
The Olman gods did not originate from Toerre/Oerth; they were first worshipped by beings from another material plane (perhaps the Aztecs on Earth). Approximately 3,000 years ago, these gods discovered Earth and the Olman people, revealing themselves as supernatural beings to the primitive Olmans.
The influence of these gods and their relevance to the Olmans varies over time. The head of the pantheon changes with the beliefs of his worshipers, having been Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca, and Tlaloc at different times. These gods have had little influence on the Olmans over the past thousand years.

The Olmans built the city of Tostenhca, the legendary Golden City, now in ruins, in the Griff Mountains.
The Griff Mountains are high, icy mountains. Tostenhca is built on a plateau, starting from a mountain whose summit was completely leveled for the construction of the city. It is believed that the city's climate would have been more pleasant during Tostenhca's heyday, but today it is covered in snow for much of the year.

Tostenhca's expansion led to wars with the Flan peoples inhabiting the fertile plains west of the mountains, the snow elves, the glacier dwarves, and the frost giants of the Griff Mountains.

Eventually, conflict broke out between the Olmans and the Vasharans. The Vasharans, a cruel and hostile people who worshipped demons, killed thousands of Olmans and captured many more to offer as human sacrifices and appease their demonic masters. Faced with this growing threat, the Olman leaders made a momentous decision: they gathered their tribes, abandoned their territory, and left the continent forever for Hepmonesia.

Timeline (Hepmonesia)
The Olman civilization flourished between 1900 and 1500 CY, when it began to work in bronze and stone and build great cities in northern Hepmonesia.

The northernmost nation, Xuxulieto, was shattered by the combined efforts of two of its neighbors. Its capital was abandoned and soon overrun by humanoids.

Meanwhile, the Tuvans of the southern lands gathered into larger groups and formed permanent settlements. A charismatic tribal leader named Onatal convinced three of the larger tribes to unite, and the consolidated tribe made great strides in metallurgy, agriculture, and animal husbandry. The other tribes quickly joined the larger one, and Onatal proclaimed himself king of the cities. The Kingdom of Kunda was born and lasted for just over 1,200 years.

The Kundali began to settle in an ever-expanding territory and eventually came into contact with the martial Olman city-states to the north. Repelled by the Olmans' use of human sacrifice and their worship of a serpent god—the Tuvans' chief evil god was Meyanok, a serpent deity—the Kundali declared war on the Olmans.

A great disaster befell the Olman city-states of Alocotla and Xapatlapo around 1100 CY, when their high priests made a pact with the god Tlaloc, giving rise to the yuan-ti.

Around 1000 CY, the Olman people began to migrate from Hepmonesia to the Amedia Jungle, the Olman Islands, and the southernmost part of the Tilvanot Peninsula. The Kundalis had little difficulty sacking the last Olman cities, generally driving the survivors back into the wilderness.

Timeline (Amedia Jungle)
In the Amedia Jungle, over the course of two centuries, the Olmans founded seven city-states that prospered for five centuries, but the city-states fought a series of destructive wars.

-800 CY Independence of the seven city-states of Amedia from the collapse of the Olman empire of Hepmonesia. From this moment on, the Olmans of Amedia considered themselves the true Olman civilization.

-500 CY Only the northernmost city-state (Tamoachan) and the southernmost (Xamaclan) survived the wars.

-425 CY Destruction of Tamoachan.

-422 CY Beginning of the Suel migrations after the Rain of Colorless Fire.

-350 CY A Suel House discovers the city of Elathalhuihle near Lake Matreyus.

-170 CY The Suel colonize the city of Elathalhuihle. For 700 years, wars continue between the Olmans and the Suels.
