That's a helpful reference. I'd likely make the Shield Lander Oeridian either a dialect of Ferrond or perhaps "new" that is intermediary between Ferrondi and Aerdi?
N.B. IMC I've divided the Common-vocca in ways that track what Samwise describes in a recent article, following a productive dialogue with Woesinger last year: what is commonly called Common is derivative of the Oeridian tribal language of the Aerdi, which became dominant as the Great Kingdom of Aerdy began to spread west in the Common Years.
A different "common" tongue developed in the Sheldomar Valley and nearby lands. Keoish derives from the Oeridian Keogh "tribe" and its language (which is closely related to that of other Oeridian tribes that predominated in settling the Uleks, Hokar (per the Great Migrations map), etc.) and the dialects of Suel that the Great Houses of Neheli, Rhola, etc. shared.
A third "common" tongue predominates in "modern-day" Furyondy, Veluna, Bissel, Verbobonc, etc.
N.B. IMC, each PC speaks at least two languages (unless Int is below 10). One is Native. The second is Fluent. Then, I add "bonus" languages based on Int bonuses (and of course class abilities like Druidic or Thieves' Cant). So the sylvan olve PC from the Dreadwood speaks (and is literate in) Olven natively and is fluent in Keoish, which you might think of as Common (Keoish). He can thus communicate easily with the inhabitants of the Hold of the Sea Princes (where our campaign is based), but he speaks with an "odd accent;" sometimes uses the wrong word, conjugation, or tense; and often misunderstands colloquialisms.
Another PC speaks (and is literate in) Keoish (Seolder) natively, which is the particular dialect of Keoish that has developed in the 140 or so years since the Hold declared and wrested its independence from Keoland, and chose Olman for his second language, which he explained as the character's personal interest, in part fueled by that character's background interactions with an enslaved Olman household servant.
This makes for particularly fun (for us) situations where PCs might not be able to communicate effectively with certain NPCs. For example, none chose Suel, in either its Ancient Suel or Sharian versions, so the PCs need to rely on an NPC or magic in order to understand Scarlet Brotherhood agents, or their writings, unless such an NPC uses a "common" tongue. (Many of the Brotherhood agents in the Hold are there as part of the long term plan to subvert the Hold, so while they speak the Shar-vocca natively, most of them are fluent in Keoish (Seolder), and the best agents can speak it as well as a native speaker, colloquialisms, and all.
