Hi all -
As a member of the game Star Trek Online, I have had access to the Beta Testing. Awesome game. But alas on Tuesday 2010.Jan.26 at 6pm Beta will close.
So because I didn't want to use Theocrat and Pholtus and Iomedae for my ships in STO, I used other names. My first ship was the USS Silverwing, not for the cartoon that was on in the 80's, but for the Honda Silverwing motorcycle. I have a Goldwing, but didn't want to name my ship that.
But when I reached the rank of Lt. Commander, I was given a new ship. I choose a science vessel. Awesome ship. I'm not much of a trekkie/trekker, but I know that these are awesome ships (there's also the escorts and the cruisers). But as I'm the Theocrat and usually play a healer, I played Locnarr Milned (Locnar from Heavy Metal and Milned is actually from Jared Milne, see he had just sent the editors an email about Giants of the Flanaess article, and thought I'd use his name.).
So Locnarr Milned@Theocrat has reached Lt. Commander and will be gone after tonight. But in honor of CanonFire, I made the USS CanonFire. Below are a few pictures of my USS CanonFire.
More of the screenshots are at www.GreyhawkOnline.com/sto - but a couple are here.
USS CanonFire at Earth just after Commissioning
USS CanonFire Cruising though some Green Stuff
You can see the CanonFire name on bottom here
You can see the CanonFire name on top here
Here I am in a battle with Romuluns
The battle with the Romuluns didn't go so well for me...see these next few pics. Ouch.
Well, I'm not that big into video games or even Star Trek but this game really got my attention. I just don't like the look and feel of WoW (never played for more than 1hr even with the free accounts, or a friends account). I hated Dungeons & Dragons Online when it first came out. Heck, I barely played for 3 weeks of my first 30days that you get when you buy the game. I have a toon on it now that its free, but I think I spent even less than 30min with the game. Sad really, but I just didn't care for it. I loved City of Heroes/Villains, but after losing my Super Group, the game was never the same. Sure I played closed beta of Champions, but it wasn't CoH and I just didn't like it. But something about Star Trek turns me on. So if anybody else is out there interested look me up. I'll be @Theocrat. At least until the WifeFIEND finds out.
Be Well. Be Well Trekked.

Well this thread is different! Very cool Theocrat. I may save this ship in my memory banks for later. ;)

The game looks really cool. I'll admit though I will most probably want to use it just to produce character portraits for manual RP games - I wonder if you have to subscribe to do that or if the generator is self-contained in the game you buy.
It makes me lament the absence of WotC DDI Character Visualiser too.

Not bad for a mere LCDR, Theocrat. Maybe someday you'll be able to move up to a real game - like Candyland.
(Abbreviation for Lieutenant Commander edited as per the following post. Happy now? )

Really cool ship! I don't really play anything on the computer anymore; but it sure is pretty!
One minor thing that has nothing really to do with the subject, but is a pet peeve of mine.....as a Navy Brat growing up (My Dad's a retired Naval officer); the correct abbreviation for Lieutenant Commander is and always has been; LCDR. I have no idea why hollywood, newspapers, magazines, etc.; have screwed it up since the dawn of time....I've seen it as LT CDR, Lt. CMDR, etc, etc.
(Sorry, rant over! )

Sorry bubbagump; I didn't mean to sound prissy or like a jerk; I have a bad habit of just throwing my thoughts down; my apologies if I offended you!

No problem - I wasn't offended at all! I was just trying to be humorous; sorry I couldn't pull it off. My apologies.
