I'm going to write a third article for Canonfire on the Sacred Bands of Hextor. I've already started my research.
So far I read the Wikipedia article on them (yes, I started my research there); and watched two documentaries on Youtube on them. And I'm wondering if any History buffs can actually help me.
To refine my research for the article I need a copy of Plutarch's Lives. However, I can only afford one volume at this time. I need a copy that tells the life of Peloponidas the Theban General. He oversaw the creation of the Sacred Band of Thebes and led them against the Spartans and the Persians. I know the resulting article is a Fantasy, but I'm bringing history into it to give it more depth and write a better article.
While I did touch on them for my second article (one on Hextor), that's not enough. Note, I could get a copy of Penguin's Classics on the same subject for less (the Greek one), reviewers have stated on getting a better copy that preserves the Greek and Roman pairings.
This article will be awesome, after I do the research.
