Top Artifacts of Oerth

The latest Poll has inspired me to start this thread. IT would probably make a good 'of Oerth' page I'd say, Abysslin. Anyhow, it is the Top 50, 75, 100 artifacts of oerth, however many there are, no particular order. I'm just curious how many are there? When I decide to run a campaign it's so hard NOT to use one and then its hard to choose one. I always feel like I'm cheating myself when I recycle an artifact I've used before, there is just too many artifacts and too little time.

I'll spot several from the poll and elsehwere and let you all fill in the rest.

Crook of Rao
Cup of Al'Akbar
Talisman of Al'Akbar
Scorpion Crown
Hand of Vecna
Eye of Vecna
Johydee's Mask
Mighty Servant of Leuk-O
Machine of Lum the Mad
Codex of the Infinite Planes
Sword of Kas
Invulnerable Coat of Arnd
Hewards Mystical Organ

Mortellan, there is a Dragon article that listed all the known artifacts of Oerth. It would be a simple matter to select the most powerful ones from there and put here, but alas I'm too tired and lazy pos-christmas party (BTW, Merry Christmas to all of you ;-) ) to find where it is and dig it out. So, I'll add three to the list:

- HUNGER!
- The Court of Essence
- The Teeth of Dahver-Na

Ah, there are a couple of hag artifacts coming soon. Watch out for the Shepherd of souls :-)

Is this Major artifacts, Minor? Smile
I don't know if this counts, but my epic level character has been toting around Wave for a while. It may be only a minor artifact, but it is one nonetheless eh?

Dragon article was: "All Oerth’s Artifacts, A Complete Annotated Listing”
Dragon 299 p. 101

Material on GH artifacts online:
Grodog`s site: http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/gh_artifacts.html
and of course this excellent page by Maldin: http://melkot.com/arcane/artifact.html

Mad BAH, I should've remembered that list. Hrm gotta save face now, how about we change that up to 10 worst artifacts. Worst as in they are overused or cheesy or whatnot. Confused

Thanks for the plug, Thanael :D There was also a companion article in Dragon 294, which detailed some old and new artifacts in 3e stats.

This definitely formed the basis for the Dragon 299 article. I also published some errata, etc., for those two articles at http://www.canonfire.com/cf/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=268

You need say no more

You can just stop at Hunger. All other artifacts just pale in comparison.

Either the Dragon list is incomplete or the Blackspear Chamber and Iuz's Soulhusks are not considered Artifacts, which are items I would easily place in that category.

Perhaps the Sword of Azor'Alq?

If I felt like perusing further, I'm sure there are more.

Ofcourse if you are a suscriber of (what I think is ridiculiously silly) Artifacts being cleary described as "indestructible," then more items will not be able to be classified as such.

However, I believe an an item with a storied past or of sheer importance to the world in and of itself, would justify classification as an Artifact.

The Teeth of Dahver-Na

Ah! The Teeth of Dahver-Na, what a wonderful artifact! Has there been an update to this artifact, or any detailing anywhere? Characters could spend a lifetime looking for these.

Anyone want to put someone elses teeth in their mouth?

Anced Math: Besides DMG 1E, the Teeth were described in Book of Artifacts 2E, but unfortunately they changed the origin (I liked so much the idea of a cleric blessed by the gods and then they changed for some cheap dragon teeth IIRC.. yech).
