Minarian Legends in Greyhawk

One of my favorite things to read over and over again is old back issues of Dragon Magazine. I started reading and collecting the magazines round about 1987, began a subscription after that, and then would go and buy some back issues as I came across them at conventions and hobby shops.

Anyway, one feature I found when I started getting some of the real old issues, (number 50 or so), would be that there was a semi regular column called "Minarian Legends". Obviously, it was some kind of campaign background, but there was no explanation as to where this was coming from. It was not until much later, when I got the CD ROM collection when I could go back far enough and find out that these background articles were in support of a board game - Divine Right.

This fantasy wargame was one of TSR's earlier products. Several issues of Dragon had articles with rules, errata, and the aforementioned histories of the lands. After all this reading, I had to get me a copy. Recently, I got the board game and followed up with ordering a book written by the game designer that compiles the Dragon Magazine articles' lore.

All this is a long intro into what I am writing about - has anyone used this little mini game setting in their own play? It seems a natural to include Minaria in some corner of Oerth, seeing as though they are both early TSR settings. I have seen some maps on the internet that puts Minaria on the far west part of Oerth. One author on Canonfire put in the lands of Minaria in the far north west corner of the game world. See this article here:

So this idea is not entirely unheard of. Anyway, if you are looking for some piece of land to develop in the lands beyond the Flannaess, this could be a good mine of information. The articles are all spread out between approximately issues 27 and 56 of Dragon. So if you have access to these issues, you have campaign histories to use right there.

Just an idea for you to use or develop as you want.
