Produced by the Council of Greyhawk, the first volume contains eleven issues of the Oerth Journal. The first issue was released on May 12, 1995, and the eleventh issue was released on May 8, 2000.
While this is the not the place to read a full history of the Oerth Journal, below is a sketch of the Journal's history, which traces the many people whose collaborations produced the first volume.
The first two issues were produced by Iquander, Tamerlain, and QSamantha. By March 20, 1996, when the third issue was released, Gary Holian, Tom Harrison, Mark Bridgeman, and Frederick Weining had joined the fray.
By the release of the sixth issue (on November 25, 1997), Nellisir and Phil Rhodes had joined the editorial team. The seventh issue marked the end of Erik Mona's, aka Savant Iquander, tenure as editor, and with the release of the eighth issue (on September 5, 1998), Nellisir assumed the editorship. Along with Morgan Rodwell, Rick LaRue, and Ron Carey, the final three issues of volume one were produced.
