The second volume of the Oerth Journal started at the end of January 2001 after an earnest public argument on GREYtalk, which resulted in Jason Zavoda assuming the editorship. Jason's vision called for regular public discussion about the Journal and mandated publication four times a year.

By July 15, 2001, an unillustrated .pdf version of issue 12 was available to download from the Codex of Greyhawk, and the text of issue 13 was also completed.
