I've seen Muspelheim used to describe both the Hall of Snurre Iron-Belly and the region around the Hall. Where was the term first introduced? I have the GDQ supermodule in PDF, and there's no mention of "Muspelheim." |
Muspelheim, IIRC, was the home of the fire giants in Norse mythology. The reason Gygax used it was probably for atmosphere, calling the place the "home of fire giants", even though that was far from being the only place that fire giants live. It was mostly to set the tone more than anything else, although one might have a case for calling Snurre's hall Muspelheim.
Of course, it should be remembered that Snurre's hall is not the only place where fire giants dwell; there are probably half a dozen or more other fire giant halls in the region. Snurre just uses that title to puff up his own importance among his rivals. _________________ <div align="left">Going to war without Keoland is like going to war without a pipe organ.
