I was looking at Ringland (Iuz the Evil / Return to White Plume Mountain) and had a few questions:
ItE mentions the Knights of Ringland. I'm assuming that refers to a branch of the Knights of Holy Shielding - in particular, to Sir Harmenn Deleven and Sir Janszen Reyneld. The only mention I can find of the "Knights of Ringland" is ItE 45.
What happened to Deleven and Reyneld? I noticed on one of the internet maps that there is a place called Reyneld between Ringland and Plague Fields, but haven't found a source for this town. Any help would be nice. I'm assuming the Shield Lands triad is behind Reyneld, but don't have any SL materials from the LG Campaign.
I don't have RtWPM, but ItE, as far as I can tell, never actually uses the phrase "Knights of Ringland". The text on p.45 specifically says that the two knights are Knights of Holy Shielding.
I would not say they they are a special branch of the KoHS, but rather two knights who happen to live in Ringland. Thus, I would not translate "Knights of Ringland" as an organization, but rather as "Knights who live in Ringland" _________________ My campaigns are multilayered tapestries upon which I texture themes and subject matter which, quite frankly, would simply be too strong for your hobbyist gamer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Mp7Ikko8SI
I agree with Kirt, for brevity the "Knights of Ringland" refer to Sir Harmenn Deleven and Sir Janszen Reyneld who are holy shielding knights.
I guess as a header: "Knights of Ringland" the two knights are Knights of Holy Shielding named to Sir Harmenn Deleven and Sir Janszen Reyneld who live in Ringland; was to cumbersome.
As for what happened that is left open as an adventure hook; I guess it is up to you:
1) Did the stalwart knights lead the villagers to safety? (IIRC one wanted to head to Furyondy and the other to Urnst)
2) Still debating the choices and remain undiscovered?
3) Divide over destination?
4)Wiped out on route or within village by Iuz forces?
5) Since Shield Lands reconquest have they become a valuable "listening post and safe area" behind the lines?
I was looking at some of the maps out there and it appears someone has placed two cities (towns, etc...) in the area around Ringland - each named for said Knights. If any of you know where this information came form / if there is some backstory to the founding of these towns, please share.
I concurred with your accessment on the "Knights of Ringland." Just an easy way of referring to the two town leaders. Check.
