Using magic the gathering cards for D&D

For the past few years i have been using magic the gathering cards in D&D. What i use them for is tokens for the battle map. Those who know about MTG know thats their are commons, uncommons and rares. Now i dont use the rares one's but the common ones like the "gaint spider" picture makes a nice token. The picture on a migic card is, 2x1.5 inches. I have cut up around 50 or so different cards for tokens. Most commons cards you can pick up from your local game store for just a few coins.
It's nice to be able to put 15 skeletons on the map that only cost me around 2 bucks.
I have also used some of the cards as handouts to describe something, like just last week. I used a card by the name of Urborg. It's a land card that has a picture of a castle in the middle of a lava field.

Yes nice use of props indeed. If a magic the gathering fan came in he might be mortified. That would be like cutting out pictures of my From the Ashes box set.
Still great use I usually look for free art work like those on wizards or other sites, similar to wizards and then I use the pictures for certain characters. Warlord cards are good for that too.

Hilarious and such an obviously good idea I'm tempted to crack out my meager set and have a look. I use counters all the time IMC, from GH Wars to Battlesystem. This idea could lend some variety indeed!

A simple and inexpensive way to prop your game. I would never have thought of it. Thanks Baron! _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

An excellent idea!
I do a similar thing myself. I "borrow" pictures from wherever I can find them, print them on some sticky paper, and stick the paper on a sheet of architectural foamboard. Then I cut out the pictures to the appropriate size. Makes for some very useful "minis".

I suppose architectural foamboard can be found at the local Hobby store? _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

Usually, yes. Even Wal-Mart carries it, as well as the sticky paper. Shouldn't be hard to come by.
