    Yep, Vorpal weapons have always been extremely powerful. However, that original version is so over-the-top I wouldn't allow anyone but Heironeous himself to wield such a thing. Shocked

    As a long-time DM, I can tell you that PCs do roll 20's often and having the party fighter kill your BBEG with a single stroke because he got lucky on the first roll, kinda sucks. Evil

    In 1e, a 20% chance of severing a head translates to 1 attack in 5. A high level fighter got, what two attacks per round? So you were severing your opponent's head in 2.5 rounds, on average. That's pretty potent.
