New adventure by GH author Erik Mona

So, there's a new Kickstarter in town. ... and it's for WoG 2.0!
Some of you may be familiar with what's been referred to as D&D 3.75 ... the Pathfinder RPG. There are, in fact, boards dedicated to it here on Canonfire. What some of you may not have heard is that they are turning the Pathfinder world of Golarion into an MMO online video game. And in order to get a demo out to major investors, they've made a Kickstarter project for it.

So, what they realized is that they can't promise benefits for the MMO when it hasn't even been slated for release, so some of the benefits are RPG related. They've commissioned Rich Baker (a great author and Big Name in and of himself) to write a Pathfinder adventure based on the MMO demo that they're producing. With the stretch goals for the Kickstarter, they've now added levels to the adventure designed and written by Greyhawk authors James Jacobs, Jason Buhlman and Erik Mona! Mona is one of the most well-known fans and authors of GH, and during the Paizo-era of Dragon and Dungeon magazines, it was his editorial direction that put Greyhawk at the top of the content list for those magazines. In fact, that era is often referred to as "Mona-hawk".

Now, they've added one more strech goal ... a level designed by Ed Greenwood, the father of the Forgotten Realms!

Now, I realize that some of you aren't MMO fans, or Forgotten Realms fans, or Pathfinder fans ... but, I figured that there likely is llikely some overlap, and I thought that I'd put in a little plug. Especially since the first four authors of the dungeon levels will be autographing the books when they're sent out to the Kickstarter backers. For me, Erik Mona's signature on an exclusive-print book is worth it.
So, head over to the site, take a look, see what's going on, and see what you think. Consider backing one of the coolest things to happen to gaming in years. There's only a couple of days left. I just pledged $100 ... and I get the autographed book, PDF of it too, a cover-poster by artist Wayne Reynolds, special priviledges from Goblinworks (the video game company licensed for the game), and a t-shirt!

Happy Happy That's the coolest $100 I've spent all year. Happy Happy

Thanks for the heads up Icarus! I went and donated, their Kickstarter campaign is ending this Friday the 8th, so if you want to contribute, go do it now!
I agree, neatest way to spend my money so far this year, sure beats buying groceries and gas. 8)

    A new Kickstarter Backer!

Shadrach ... I'm glad that I posted! I was a little worried about catching a little flak for posting here on Canonfire, and having it be somewhat off-topic.

Just knowing that it brought even one more Backer to the Pathfinder Online Demo, brings an awfully big smile to my face. Happy I kinda feel like I did my part amongst the gaming/fan community.

I hope there's others that donate, and/or try out Pathfinder for the system, and how easy I think that it makes running Greyhawk. I know there's a lot of edition-specific sentiments on Canonfire!, so it's nice to see another gamer find a shared interest. Cool

Pathfinder is my prefered game system now, but I continue to DM the Pathfinder system in the World of Greyhawk. I will never, likely, have time to participate in an online MMORPG, though.

Total Party Kill Games is the company I edit/write adventures and accessories for and their products are for use with the Pathfinder system. I must say that one of the biggest reasons for Pathfinder's success, in my opinion, is Erik Mona. Cool

Well, there's always the idea of just suppoting the MMORPG just to get really cool swag. This isn't really the "official" PFO, yet. Just the demo for it. So, supporting it is just helping them get a demo up and going to present to regular investors. That's why they're offering really cool swag for Pathfinder, rather than the MMORPG itself.

Rich Baker, James Jacobs, Jason Buhlman, and Erik Mona? That's a 96-page adventure designed (and autographed) by the Dream Team, if you ask me. And it's well worth the $50 for it. Especially since I play in the Pathfinder Society organized play league, and it's going to have an addendum for PFS play in it.

Lisa Stevens, smart cookie that she is, might also have something to do with it. Wink

31 hours left in PFO kickstarter!

SO!! There's still 31 hours left in the kickstarter, and only $4,000 left to hit the $200,000 stretch goal!
It's gonna be a level added to the Mega-Dungeon, by ED GREENWOOD!! This is going to be *the* Gaming Book of the Year!! The very first PFRPG/PFS Mega Dungeon. It's amazing! Five entire leels designed by some of the greatest game writers of our generation!

Pop over to the Kickstarter page, and take a lo-o-o-ong look at it, and consider spending $50 to $75 (depending on if you want it autogaphed or not). It's WELL worth the investment. Think of that ... $10 per level of the dungeon, full colour art, and stat spreads! Even if you don't play Pathfinder, it's a great one for a collection, or for converting to other editions! (AND you get cool other stuff, too!)

Thanks for your support, guys! I'm looking forward to writing a straight-up dungeon level, even if I don't yet know which of the five ideas I'll be writing! :)
