    Monks of Flanaess

So I'm mkaing changes in my party and ne w player is thinking about taking Monk as his PC. The thing is I'm rather reclusive to add them to my Flanaess. I like the class on general basis and wouldn't have any problems to add them to Forgotten Realms or Planescape, but there is something contradictory to me image of Greyhawk world, and kung-fu masters class. I got the Scarlet Brotherhood has almost caste of them, but I see this as more "on the Far East" thing, looking where the Tilvanot Peninsula is located. And also I leave monks as amlost entirly "human-only" class.

Monks have a solid presence among the Suel and Baklunish in Greyhawk. The top ruling caste of the Scarlet Brotherhood is composed of Monks. Xan Yae, and her servant Zuoken, represents the Baklunish side of things so far as Monks are concerned (read their background and you will see what I mean). Remember that the Baklunish are "Eastern-ish", but in real-world terms that description really encompasses cultures from the Middle East all the way to, and including, India and China. More aptly, take all of the cultures from those regions, put them in a blender, mix well, and what you will have are the Baklunish. Despite obvious evidence to the contrary, many people have a penchant for equating "Baklunish" with "Arabic", which is not accurate.

There's also this article by Dethand from back in 2003. Not sure if he finished the series. I'd look it up but I've got to run to work.
