In the spirit of my return to the forums and the category, I have on occasion tried to post varied frugal DM options for map-making, and gaming in general.
So for those like myself that still lean toward actual mini's, traditional scatter pieces, custom basing, and many varied techniques for miniature terrain building instead of just digital mapping. I offer this for consideration.
A close friend of mine, located in the UK, is more of a traditional war-gaming terrain builder that skirts our own genre, but his skills and ideas are very cross platform. I would hope you would give his site (and utube videos) a look and even consider supporting his first kickstarter effort that culminates lots of techniques in terrain building encompassed in a single book.
For the frugal gamer, its a great source to create terrain out of easy to find and inexpensive materials. He (Mel) like us, is just a life long gamer that has a passion for the gaming of all types (from WW1 and 2 to Fantasy and Post-Apocalyptic )
More Kickstarter News fellow Greyhawkers.
Finally got flight clearance after multiple hospital stays (must have been something "good" I was exposed to.. heheh).
Anyway took a trip to Madison wisconsin to visit with our Demi-Goddess of Cartography.
While there, met with the "Two Kings" over lunch at GameholeCon in Madison Wisconsin while dining with long time friend Anna Meyer of Kobold Press/ Greyhawk fame.
I have to say they have certainly captured the change in the industry from the 1980s stigma dont ask dont tell you play RPG syndrome, to one that identifies the comradery , enjoyment and fun of RPGs for the next generation of young players. As social media seems to become less and less social. It is good to have building blocks such as this to produce cooperation, communication and all the social benefits RPG players have known exist for years to the next generation of gamers. I encourage all to pass along the torch and light the way.
Their Kickstarter concludes soon, but I do encourage all to check them and it out.
Wow that got funded in no time (7 hrs!). I love doing this stuff for my games, thanks for the tip @Dark_Lord_Galen. I think I'll get in on this.
No Problem Luz.. have been a supporter and Patron for Mel since he started... great guy, and helpful to a fault... don't forget to also check out his many free videos on Youtube as well.
