    Demi Planes

I have to say, one thing I have always loved about Greyhawk are the Demi Planes... the DMs free range area! Has anyone ever compiled a list of all the demi planes in Canon... Lolths Realm, Beyond the Magic Mirror, the Tower of Inverness (maybe?) what else?

    Isle of the Ape.

Also, I guess the Fading Lands count in the demi-plane category too?

Land Beyond the Magic Mirror and Dungeonland are two more I believe. =)

They're one of my favorite topics, too: http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/gh_sites.html I haven't revisited this in awhile---have any new demiplanes been added to the setting recently?

Well judging by grodog's list, maybe Kelanen's extraplanar abode?

There was that demi-plane in Ex-Keraptis Cum Amore in Dungeon 77, pretty cool plane.

Do the elemental nodes in Temple of Elemental Evil count?

The Den Realm of the Catlord? Or the Cat Lady? If you prefer. Smile

    Invictus Devastatus, pretty cool indeed.

Cool topic! Smile I think we can add the Vortex of Madness where Baron Lum is trapped, from Vortex of Madness, and Moil, the necromantic demiplane, from Return to Tomb of Horrors.

Grodog, since you have a head start, maybe you could do one of those listings? Like Undead of Oerth; Dragons of Oerth. Demi-planes of Oerth?

I'd think CF would like to host something like that, as the others.

I ran across Elayne Mystica's Twilight Realm the other night. A personal demi-plane. The ultimate in GH luxury. Smile

Mordenkainen's Magnificient Mansion is essentially a personal demi-plane available to everyone, but would need to be made permanent. Smile

Sometimes, the Plane of Shadow is also called a demi-plane. I'm not sure which is official. I think its a plane.

I greatly enjoyed Gygax's Shadowrealm, which he detailed in City of Hawks 257-351 (1987).

Does anyone know if these descriptions have become incorporated into either 2e's Planescape setting or the two 3e "Manual of the Planes" books?

Another demi-plane, Fading Land, or smaller extra-dimensional space is Avalondria--described in The House in the Tree, in Night Arrant 229-73 (1987). It was the house of various sorts of faeries--the Poochauns, subjects of Queen Lifayvia--within a gigantic ipt of many trunks--the legendary survivor of an ancient sacred ring of ipts.

PS - Was Gygax's "mountebank" character class ever published?

I believe it was actually developed with Skip Williams for a never-released module.

It wasn't. The present-day Plane of Shadow has its own evolutionary path.
