Postfest X(Needfest 2009): Inns & Taverns of Greyhawk

Welcome to Postfest X(Needfest 2009): Inns & Taverns of Greyhawk

This Postfest will focus on some of the more interesting “sleeperies” and eateries in the World of Greyhawk. So, here are some suggestions as to what to include in your entries:

First off, write about a location that not much(or nothing) has been written about before- make something up! A particular emphasis should be put on your chosen location being conducive to adventuring. Don't just present a description of a place, its proprietors, how much rooms cost, and what they have on the menu. Put in some local flair, such as rumors, interesting local folk, questionable characters, etc.

Think more along the lines of presenting a place where a road weary(or bored) adventurer can find all manner of trouble to get themselves into. Think of the Inn of the Welcome Wench of Hommlet fame, or of the Green Dragon Inn in Greyhawk City(I wouldn’t recommend writing on these particular locations as they have been covered rather extensively already), and the trouble one can get themselves hooked into there and you won't go wrong. Whatever you want to write about, just make sure that the main feature is an inn or tavern. Heck, your inn or tavern could be an adventure site in and of itself if that is what you want to do!

Mind you, this is not a hard and fast format, but I think that more people will find the articles useful if prospective authors adhere to at least some of the above suggestions.

Make sure you put the title of your submission in the following format:

Postfest X(Needfest 2009): "TITLE OF YOUR ARTICLE"

You have until March 31st to turn in your submissions.

    Happy Postfest! Happy

    Great Post!
As a matter of fact you can look at a reconstitution in 3D of the famous Inn of the Welcome Wench just here: http://celebfin.free.fr/auberge.htm

Enjoy and happy new year to every Greyhawk fans!

I submitted the Wolf's Howl Inn, an inn near Verbobonc that I need for an upcoming game, and it fits in perfectly with the Postfest. It's my first postfest, so yay.

I didn't include pricing for a reason. The pricing from different versions of the game can vary. 1E and 4E prices are rarely the same.

I will need everyone else who submitted a Postfest article via e-mail to go the Submit Article page, type in *ONLY* the title of their article- "Postfest(Brewfest 2008): YOUR TITLE HERE"- preview it, and then submit it. This acts as a placeholder for us to edit text into, but more importantly it links the article to *YOUR* user profile. This is important as I cannot simply post something under another user's profile, and is of course a security feature to prevent any "shenanigans".

When we have done this in the submite page, what is the e-mail to use? is it editors@canonfire.com? or can we PM the article to you, Cebrion?

Either option works fine, but send the article to me by PM this time(I want to test something). Normally you should send all submission files you are having trouble with to editors@canonfire.com though.

Ceb, Gary, and anyone else who helped, thank you for getting the Brewfest postfest entries up. I was in the pits of dispare (Not to be mistaken for Hell on Oerth ;-)

I'm not sure if I'll have one for Needfest '09, but I might, and I thought I do a little drum rolling to see what we might have out there. IMO 3 is worth it, but more is better.

I'm looking forward to reading MikelAmroni's Wolf's Howl Inn. Have any others been submitted? Are other's in the works? IIRC, quite a few people promised to do an article a month, or something like that. Now would be a great time to step up.

Let us hear from Adept and Greysages alike!

So far we have two offerings(I think), those being MikelAmroni's "Wolf's Howl Inn" and Galliskinmaufrius' "Zelizar‘s House of Ill Repute".

I'm trying to pry more offerings out of other folks of course, one being about an inn located in Ketser, Ull(guess who may write that one up?) Laughing

Another offering: The Hillock Hunting Lodge (Iron Hills) Smile

I have a Gulf of Ghayar (Baklunish West): The Camel Respite but it is a movable tent establishment within the Bediyan Desert.

Does that qualify or does it have to be stationary?

This looks awesome. I had ideas of a movable tavern too.

There goes Anced Math stealing my entry idea. At least somebody is going to do it though. Happy

Crag: If it functions as an inn or tavern then it is suitable(even if you have to chase it down). Such an "establishment" would probably have a set trail that it sets up on at specific places at specific times of the year so that customers can actually find it.

    29 days left...

I owe CF! articles from last year (I think I only submitted two of the 6 I promised), so I'll submit a WFRP-style coaching inn, along one of the dirawaen laid by the Great Kingdom, though likely outside of its borders.

    Sounds Good Everyone Smile

The desert establishment is meant to be transitory without a trail within the brutal heat - a tent with access to water and provisions is sent by Istus. A simple establishment the DMs can plop down in the desert to provide an encounter for the PCs.

I submitted the Dirty Dog Tavern in Rookroost via email, but I thought the deadline was March 1st instead of the 31st so I am going to add a few more stat blocks and resubmit it.

You still need to actually go to the Submit Article page and submit just the title of your article in the form to act as a place holder. Be sure to put the title in the *proper format* as shown above in the first post.

I didn't type the right thing. What I meant to say is that the "inn" would need set locations that it would be at so that customers could find it. As an example, for the entire first week of the second month the inn will be three days southeast of the Ihib-san Oasis. It wouldn't follow a literal road/trail but people could find it without too much trouble if they knew the locations and the times the inn would be there, and enough about the local landmarks to be able to find it.

Done. Will be sending the final draft later this month via email. I take it a PDF is okay? It's going to have color maps in it, plus it's written in mod template format.

    Thanks.

My weekend was derailed by work, but I'm still planning on finishing a submission by the 31st, hopefully sooner :D

doesn't look like I'll be done with mine by the deadline, so I'll probably just submit mine as a normal article in a week or so.

This is a somewhat soft deadline, but I'd like to stick to it as much as possible. Sneak them in as you can and I'll add them in(the quicker the better Wink).

Thanks Brian: I've been killed by work the past few weeks, so I'm definitely not going to have my submission tonight. I'll shoot for the weekend, hopefully sooner if this week remains calmer....
