    The bubble of Lolth

Yeah, it was only described in the GDQ 1-7 Queen of the Spiders supermodule. The attempt was to put a stronger drow link to the adventure so as to tie the events closer and make the adventure as a whole more epic. It has become canonical however, and is mentioned (albeit obliquely) in some later products. The bubble has been described as "just a mysterious event plaguing Sterich" with little additional info, so GDQ is the only product that details it in any significant manner.

By the way, GDQ is also the first appearance of the notorious Keoland heel, Lashton.

    I own G1, G2, G3, D1-2, D3, and Q1 but not GDQ.

What on Oerth is Lolth's Bubble?

    Lolth's Bubble

The GDQ: Queen of the Spiders supermodule was a compilation of all those modules with additional information linking them to the A1-4 series. The bubble was one of the little additions in the compilation.

At the start of the giant series, your intrepid adventurers are hired by none other then the King's Agent Lashton to investigate the giants. This is really just to get them out of the way, as the capital city of Istivin is being swallowed by an Abyssal magic, looking like a black spider web. It only allows native Sterichers inside, so the adventurers are more or less forced to take on the side issue of the giant raids.

When (and if) the adventurers continue all the way through to the Demonweb, the adventurers learn that Lolth is indeed behind the creation of this magical field and is using it as a precursor to invade Sterich. If your party defeats Lolth, the bubble bursts and Sterich is saved. So the device is really just a literary bridge making the adventure a little more epic in scope. It does not really effect the play of the modules at all.
