Just to correct the following in the comments, Mort:
"The Warden of course the crashed space ship from Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. It is an homage to the lost colony ship from the fantastic scifi RPG Metamorphosis Alpha by James Ward. "
The ship in S3 is NOT the Warden, according to an interview with Gygax in Oerth Journal #12 (pages 8-9). Jim Ward says the same thing here: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11179&start=502

Wow! That was a close one, Mort. I see his plan is to sneek out in the dimunitive Ii-nedraw. Handy thing to keep tucked behind your ear.
Now might be a good time to bring out this old jingle:

Well hell. I'd settle for even a portion of the Warden, since the ship in Meta Alpha is rather humongous in scale(More fitting for Arneson's City of the Gods IMO). It would be ridiculous to say they aren't related at all however, cause I'd call shenanigans for such hindsight 30 years after the fact.

So, mort, do we have enough clues now to figure out who the cultists of Tharizdun are, or should we wait for more comics to come out? :-)

Aren't they just human cultists in ceremonial robes? If they turned out to be Erythnul and Incabulos in disguises, it would be very weird.

Last night in the chat, mort hinted at a puzzle regarding their identities. I think they're established NPCs or even deities, and he says he's left clues in the comics about who they are.

Correct Celeste. Through careful re-reading of the comic and location of various visual and textual clues which I will later leak, you can deduce the answer. Also, you can eliminate certain characters based on them appearing with the cultists, such as Erythnul who was with other evil gods trying to kill the cultists a couple episodes ago.

If I had to guess, I'd say Ralishaz is one of 'em, and possibly Vecna, but those are just guesses based on their portfolios...

Thanks Mystic! It still needs a bit of tweaking. My playtest was a bit wonky, but then again I ran it 1st edition and I hadn't done that system in AGES. Given time I would've liked to add pregenerated victims-er, characters and some illustrations. Eh.

Werewolves, Ehlonna and Obad-Hai, I know that theme. http://www.canonfire.com/cf/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=936
I am sure it is in bad taste to comare artists. Maybe it is just cuz I recently read something similar in Order of the Stick, http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0742.html (“I wouldn’t call him a dwarf, but there will definitely be some spelunking involved.”), but, I can’t help but mention that the last panel was ripe for having Ronald Regan make some double entendre salamander/fire giant joke. Amusing even if I cannot come up with the puchline. _________________ Plar of Poofy Pants

You talking about the scaly one on the left? Ahem, the Lords of Good(tm) are all anonymous while wearing their cowls of white, who am I to say which deities they may be?

From left to right: Bahamut, Moradin, Corellon, Pelor, Rao, Kord, Pholtus, Quetzalcoatl, Yondalla.
And the identity of the "smart" cultist is pretty obvious at this point, I think.

I wanted to use Quetz real bad, but he is LN according to the Greywiki. I couldn't find a single 'good' Olman god in fact! So, yeah that's a Touv unfortunately.

He's LN in the original Deities & Demigods, and The Scarlet Brotherhood took alignments and detail straight from there. He's LG in 2e Legends & Lore, though. I thought I saw quetzal feathers peeking out of his hood.
There are good Aztec deities, but they don't get mentioned in Greyhawk sources.

Yup. All is good. I'm winding down on the comic however as they are getting harder to muster than in my heyday. Sometimes I have a creative spurt but other weeks I'm just braindead. To that end, I'm limping forward with #300 in my sights.

And here I am a lowly, ignored devotee of Uncaring Boccob!
Does this mean that Kord will disown me if I choose to be a scholarly Sorcerer instead of a "manly" -- a.k.a. uncouth, uneducated -- Fighter?
Too cool, Mort. Thanks! _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

Forget disown - kord will appear and mash you into bloody pulp. No kid of his is gonna be a wussy bookworm - the shame would be too much.
As for the confusion of classes; I think it could be interpreted that the child has to be a member of the clergy OR a fighter class not forced to be dual.
Good comic Mort

Too bad bookwormish deities like Delleb, Lydia and Boccob aren't promiscuous as Kord else we could have a demigod roll off for mentally gifted characters. And a child of Zagyg? Well you'd have to crack out the insanity charts from the DMG for that one.

Thanks Mort! Has it really been a year since "we" looked in on Lendor's game? Man! Time really flies around here!
Nice link for the Pathfinder Wiki btw, thanks! _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

Nicely done, Mort. And some excellent links too!
You're making me think of a certain "missing" Prince of Furyondy. But that would be TOO easy!
Besides, I don't like to think of "him" being corrupted by Tharizdun! _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

Awesome new site, Mort!
I'm a bit "rushed" this morning, just "popping in" real quick, but I'll get myself "subscribed" this evening! Looking forward to it! _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

Still haven't got the Cultists figured out, but then I've missed so much 'hawk of the years I'll probably be the last to know! Oh, well. _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

Who??
I knew I wouldn't have a chance. Thrommel popped to mind, but there were clues to exclude him.
Very nice work. I am not surprise that Rasgon won.
The ending was Raider of the Lost Arc?
Im gonna miss those purple little guys

Remember, if I'm not entertaining I hope I'm at least educational on Greyhawk. Tang was from 1st edition and Philidor was 2nd edition. Correct on the movie! Speaking of Raiders, sometimes I feel when writing these GH comics that Rasgon is my Belloq. ;)
Well the purple(blue?) guys had a good run (40 comics + guest appearances elsewhere) and I've set things up for a potential NEW pair of cultists for yall to figure out! bwahaha!

Mort, have you read the Canonfire! articles that GV Dammerung based on Bruce Heard's Dragon article (and other sources)? He did a pretty good job in making them mesh with canon, I think. |
Gak! That's right! It's all coming back to me now. Well looks like my next look in on these books shall link these articles up, thanks for the help rasgon!

I'll be starting a new thread finally since it is a new year, then I shall lock and cast this one adrift in the general forums. Feel free to refer back to it for any links you need.
