Anyone watching this mini-series? I admit I am really starting to like it.

Yeah, definitely liking this mini-series. Not sure if I am a fan of the extensible tongues that are used to drain blood from their victims, and wondering about the whole parasitic worm thing...but overall I appreciate the character development very much, especially about Setrakian (the vampire hunter), and the storyline is good.

Sorry, man. Been neglecting CF! lately and didn't see this thread. Yeah, I'm totally eating it up! Have you read the books? I plowed through them, one right after the other. They're not stunning novels, but they are a fun read, and the whole thing reminded me of the Robert McCammon's They Thirst, which was the first horror novel I ever read and set me on a couple-of-years-long horror-reading binge when I was about 12; one that eventually led me to Lovecraft, and reading some obscure novel that I found in the local paperback exchange called Interview With the Vampire, that did pretty well a few years later. Huzzah, at least one other person watches this show! Wink
No, Smillan, I haven't read the books, or any you have mentioned. Embarassed My reading consists of finishing the last "Game of Thrones" tome (Book 5) right now. However, I am very much liking this series.

    until next time,

WOW, The Master...a terrifying ancient bloodsucker indeed! Curious how they intend to destroy it if direct sunlight doesn't do the job instantly (though it obviously wounds it)...

I never even heard of the show or the books. Though I'm not a big vampire fan, especially since Twilight was written. Though I enjoyed Interview with a Vampire both the book and the movie.

Argon, "The Strain" is nothing like "Twilight!" It is a modernized version of a vampire story, full of Gothic horror mixed with science explanations for vampirism. Give it a shot. I think you'll appreciate it.

Yeah, it actually makes vampires horrifying in ways other than that they may ask that new girl in 3rd period chemistry to the prom instead of you. Smile

otherwise known as "twinklepires" since they sparkle in sunlight... hehehe

haven't heard of either the books or the show.... and like Argon.. my vampires are more akin to Interview & Bram Stoker's Dracula.... they wipe the room with "Edward" Evil Grin

The books are real page-turners, not the best books I've ever read, and some of the characters are a little hackneyed, but very enjoyable and entertaining.

First episode for season two is tomorrow night.
You can get the first season on Blu-Ray, but not sure when DVD is out.

    Enjoy!

Maybe I accidentally missed an episode, but wondering if The Master has transferred his malevolent consciousness to a new body given that his current one (the giant) was severely burnt. The show was alluding to it, but have yet to see an episode featuring him lately...

Yeah, I was confused about this too. At one point I thought he had transferred to Bolivar, but I think now he's just still in Sardu's body, but it's weakened.

They seem to be diverging from the books at this point. I like where they're going, or at least where they seem to be going.
