Does anyone know how far it is across the Flanaess running east/west and then north/south? _________________ Eileen of Greyhawk, Prophet of Istus, Messenger of the Gods

According to the Glossography, the Flanaess maps cover 970 leagues north to south. I don't know offhand where to find the east to west distance (though you could always count hexes).

Where does one start and end? Is Ket part of the Flanaess or the border? Is the Tiger Nomads part of it? Measuring Nomads to end of Thillonria might yield a different result than Bissel to Rel Astra for argument's sake.

Since the Suel and Oeridians "passed into the Flanaess" through either the Bramblewood Gap or over/through the Crystalmist Mountains, the crest of the Crystalmists forms the westward border of the Flanaess. North of Bissel, I would suggest the Yatils perfom a similar function.

When I proposed the question, my intent was the physical landmass shown on the maps. I realize that the newer maps are the more terrain they have added. Perhaps I will do an approximate hex count. _________________ Eileen of Greyhawk, Prophet of Istus, Messenger of the Gods

Sorry to muddle up your question Eileen. Flanaess or no, I would think the map is definitely all "eastern Oerik" in the very least. My educated guess is 5000 miles across?

By my count, the Darlene map of the Flanaess covers 3893.76 miles from east to west and 2,910 miles from north to south.

@EileenProphetofIstus
As Mort points out that would only be the "eastern flanaess" utilizing either Darlene's or Anna's rendition.
There was , a LONG while back, an article where Gary H discussed Oerik (and the continents) on a global scale when discussions on longitude and latitude arose. I'll see if I can find it... I had plans (once upon atime) on combining it with greyhawk's weather system but other projects became more pressing ... Sounds like it time to necro that from the shadows...
