I've also started a discussion on these maps within the new Canonfire forum, "the readers workshop." |

Re: Maps of the Metropolis of Rel Astra (Score: 1) by Zephirum on Sat, October 02, 2004 (User Info | Send a Message) | You are psychic. My game's going thru the entire Crook of Rao quest over several sessions. This is perfect as my group is going to meet Drax and swap for the Crook.
So what medium did you use to generate the map? This is very nice and clean. Also, I liked the district breakdown maps. Where did you get the details for Rel Astra? If the details are original, you have a great imagination and a clever mind.
I tried to be nit-picky and critical, but I couldn't find anything noteworthy of such mention.
Thanks for sharing your hard work. I appreciate it. |

all the maps are hand drawn, just on regular letter paper. i scan them in then color and label using photoshop. sometimes adding detail with freehand, such as the circle things (can't think of their proper name) in the bodies of water.
the whole of the city is inspired from greyhawk sources describing it, with a few liberties. |

Re: Maps of the Metropolis of Rel Astra (Score: 1) by Cebrion on Fri, October 08, 2004 (User Info | Send a Message | Journal) | Your maps are top notch boslok_the_elder!!!
Rel Astra(the other Free City of reknown) is often overlooked as a great campaign location, as it is set in the midst of wild and/or evil lands on all sides. It also offers the option of a maritime campaign as well. All in all a great location for good characters to fight the great evils that abound, or for parties with more neurtral or even evil tnedencies to get sucked into the subterfuges of the powers that be in the region.
I'm very impressed!!!
Oh, and keep the maps coming. No need to feel pressure to put up new maps(although that would be good too), I'm sure that we all would like to see any past maps you have done as well- and that you can post without clueing in any of your players on any hidden plans that you may have for them!

Re: Maps of the Metropolis of Rel Astra (Score: 1) by iquander on Fri, November 12, 2004 (User Info | Send a Message) | These maps are absolutely gorgeous. Do you intend to "fill in" the blank spots, or are you planning to stick with the more abstract approach?
Also, have you written any Rel Astra articles to go along with this?
It's great to see the Sorcerer's Nexus on there!
Absolutely spectacular work. The color map in particular is easily comparable to maps I've published in Dungeon.

I'm making Rel Astra my main city for my next campaign so i really need one or i'll have to design it and i'm not a very good mapper. :(
Thank you! |
