Lanolin was born Elwarcen Kchysc within the Faerie Kingdom of Celene in 434 CY. Lanolin was trained within the wilds of Celene and quickly became a defender of the elven nation during the Hateful Wars. It was during this time that Lanolin and Melf
fought together and developed a rather uneasy rivalry. With Melf as the commander of the elven forces in the southern Lortmils, with Lanolin as his rather unruly lieutenant. The two quickly rose to prominence during this time, though, Lanolin's
glory was always overshadowed by Melf. Over time, Lanolin began to despise the fact that it was only Melf's royal blood that sustained his rank within the armies of Celene. He began to distance himself from following the Hateful Wars.
Following the Hateful Wars there was no place for action-junkies like Lanolin within the confines of Celene. As such, Lanolin quickly took to adventuring within the southern Lortmils area and eventually found himself in the Suss Forest exploring the many ruins among stalwart adventuring parties. It was among these ruins that
Lanolin discovered an ancient blackened iron band covered in elven runes. The ring quickly revealed itself to him as an elven ring of antiquity. Its name was Etherason, and it was once a great Ring of Power within the kingdom of Celene. The ring quickly worked to feed Lanolin's fascination with magic and helped to corrupt the elves world view.
Lanolin returned to Celene in the early 560's to find that his families lands had been assimilated by the royal court of Celene. While most elves consider this an honor, Lanolin flew into a fiery rage, razing many of the buildings of his former home and injuring many of the elven militia. Lanolin declared himself a free agent and spat his disdain for the elven kingdom. With this besmirch of character
Lanolin was arrested, tried, and banished from the Faerie Kingdom by none other than his rival - Prince Melf. While Melf and the Kingdom of Celene did not consider Lanolin evil, they also could not help but see that he was on the path of destruction and therefore a threat to elven solidarity.
Years have passed, but Lanolin still adventures outside the confines of Celene. He has changed his name from Elwarcen to Lanolin, mostly due to his fondness of ungents and oils extracted from sheep's wool. Lanolin, is a verifiable sociopath.
With the persuasion of his ring of power, Lanolin's fascination with magic has changed to a obsession. His primary goal in life is to amass great wealth, power and arcane knowledge through whatever means necessary.
Lanolin is a relaxed smooth-talker; cunning, slightly-arrogant, and invariably ruthless. He has no qualms about using others for his own ends, but in a way that makes them believe it was for their own good. When adventuring he often ends up
with more treasure than would be considered a fair share, though convincing those with him that it is rightly so. Usually bluffing or through the use of charm spells if needs be. Lanolin has used wishes to increase his abilities and continues to search for magical items or spells to increase his abilities.
Appearance: Lanolin is 5 ft. 3 in. tall and weighs 133 lbs. He has a fair complexion and vibrant violet eyes. He appears to be 157 years old, with wavy black hair falling over his shoulders. He tends to smirk mischievously when plotting an unscrupulous action and has been known to verbally mock honest adventurers. When not adorned in his elaborate mithral scale mail, Lanolin has been known to wear dark green shirts with elven lace-embroidering as well as tight black leather pants. He is never without his magic items and will hastily beat a retreat if overchallenged, only to return for a counter-assault on his terms.
Tactics: Lanolin is an intelligent adversary and is rarely if ever encountered alone. In combat, Lanolin prefers to use charm spells on enemy fighters, and heavy damage spells on enemy spellcasters. When confronted in melee, Lanolin quickly switches to a defensive stance and will attack with his spear, often channeling spells through it. If hard pressed, Lanolin will attempt to burn spells to deal more damage via the Arcane Strike feat, until he is at or below 25% hp, at which point he will attempt to teleport out.
Development: Lanolin is the perfect infiltrator of adventuring parties. He delights in finding magical treasures almost as much as goading good characters into committing evil acts. He enjoys appealing to their greed and fears, corrupting them within. Though to anger him is to earn his undying vengeance. Recently, Lanolin has been spotted along the Wild Coast, the Suss Forest, and the northern reaches of the Pomarj in roving bands of adventurers battling the orcs and other humanoids here and there. Rary the Traitor has also recently taken an interest in the avarice adventurer and they maintain communication via message spells and various spies.
