Re: The Bucknard Manuscript (Score: 1) by GVDammerung on Sun, May 08, 2005 (User Info | Send a Message | Journal) | Hi Kirt,
Actually, calling these "ideas" that could be written out goes perhaps too far.
When I started this particular project my thought was to (1) provide an "in game" vocabularly which players could use when speaking in-character, sort of akin to a fantasy version of Star Trek's techno babble that you hear on the bridge or in engineering(plasma conduits, Theta band emissions, warp signatures etc.) and (2) put in place a framework for monsters to appear from nowhere and then return there, as well as fascilitating "time travel" without all the usual problems attendant on such. I kinda grew to incorporate my loathing of Iuz and my desire to be rid of him but still keep him around "for old times sake" nonetheless.
As such, this work is much what you would choose to make of it rather than a definitive set of "rules." It is something for players to puzzle over and interpret.
I've got another, along same lines, in outline. I will confess that this was an awful lot of fun to write. :D |
