My rationale for coming up with these tribal names also stems from the cultural trait I think many humanoids share-naming their chiefs or tribes in some culturally significant manner. Orcs name their tribes after their deities in some way-Evil Eye comes from Gruumsh, the Leprous Hand from Yutrus, etc. Kobolds get their names from the way they set up their traps to kill enemies, and hobgoblins will name their tribes after the way they torture their victims, etc. Keep in mind these are all canon names I'm using.

In the case of the ogres, we have a race that is crude, violent and very, very stupid. What better way for them to name their tribes than after the disgusting practices they carry on-splattering giant insects, the sound smaller creatures make when ogres step on them, or what have you? Hence the names "Splat", "Bonk", "Crash", etc.
