The "borg" option peaked from a variant of a RPGA Tournament style where they issue you a pregenerated character. The only difference is the PC just doesn't get "reset" but returns to the "hall" ,so to speak, until summoned again. I really started this variant out of necessity, I had several players join the military and this method worked best when they could play during leaves. And to add, it is entertaining to play if one has always played a particular character type and wanted to "get out of the rut" with out having to generate a new PC.
I agree with the "not to include" option, though it could be difficult to rationalize if the PC makes a habit of it (hence the Blink Dog). As PCs grow in level it tends to impact the party if they are missing a key element of support.
And very true, have had "stand ins" but neglected to address that option :-)
I am appreciative of your review and comments!
