This is a really great article, Chevalier. As you can tell I'm into musing on the languages of Oerth. It's only in the last two years I've come to realize what you seemed to hit on immediately. Before, I had identified Germanic sounding place names with the Flan, assuming the name's survival among the conquerors to have been due to adoption by them of those place names, similar to the many place names you see in America adopted from Native American languages. For some reason I associated the Suel with Romance languages. The Oeridians I hadn't quite figured out. Then I realized I had it all mixed up. In retrospect it's all so clear.
Thanks for the mention of my article on Common. I still like the idea and have been meaning to work on it further, editing the obvious mistakes I made (Making the Yragerne's a Baklunish family, etc...).
I'll be interested to see any further work you may do on this subject.

Great article, Chevalier! I just realized the identifications you made of Oeridian with Romance languages and Suloise with Germanic languages about two years ago, after trying to somehow shoehorn Flan into Germanic languages for years. Why? It was right in front of me the whole time.
Thanks for mentioning my article on Common. It was my first one. While I still like my theory I would like to edit that article and expand it a little bit. Maybe I'll submit a second take on it.
Looking forward to see what else you have in store.
